Something needs to be done (although I'm sure no money is available) about the invasive plants taking over our forests. Bush and Japanese honeysuckle havee been around for years...planted by people to spruce up their lawns.
I am tired of cutting this stuff down....it needs to be sprayed once it is cut or else it comes back five fold. I've also noticed that 'tree of heaven' or 'ailianthis' is spreading very quickly along the highways...it may be the easier to get rid of since it is newly established. If you have any of these plants be sure to cut them in the fall and spray the cut stem with glyphosate (roundup) or arsenal. Native plants are available from several nurseries in the state...which make a better choice. |
