It is a good school. My husband went there as a child, and we actually moved back into the area just so our children could attend. They always have excellent test scores and I've always felt at home when I'm there. The faculty and staff have always been very friendly and seem happy to help/address any concerns I may have. My son loves it and is very excited to go every day. If you want to send your children there, I recommend you go to the school and see for yourself if you like it, as opinions always differ. But we couldn't be happier.

It is a wonderful school as long as your child can keep up. If they fall behind it's not so wonderful.

Bet Science Hill was sorry to lose those spelling and grammar skills you have to Pulaski. LOL! My kids go there and love it...top of their class, involved in lots of different activities, and yes, they are pushed academically....isn't that what we want for our future leaders...to be pushed to excel and to stive to make the most of their educational endeavors? If you think you have the next Brett Farve on your hands, Pulaski is the place to be...but if you think one day they might actually want a job to help support themselves, I'd rather depend on SH to educate them accordingly. Just my opinion....

I would not recommend it. They have teachers aides that have no college(or they did have last year). They have the in crowd and the out crowd. If your child is in the out crowd he WILL be treated differently. I would perfer Pulaski where all children are treated the same. Also the teachers do not teach they send it all home for the parents to help their child with massive amounts of homework.

science hill is a good school,,, but you have to be in the "in" crowd... like doctors kids... if your not they will treat you different... it is a hard school... when i went there they didnt treat you fair.. they didnt have very many good teachers... and some would call you stupid... and no child is stupid... if your looking for a sports school... deffinatly go for pulaski... its more advanced, have coaches that actually coach, and know what there talking about.. i played softballl, basketball, and i danced for 3 years... we never did well in the games. or competitions... i think that pulaski is a more well rounded school, and they really wont leave a child behind...

I am so sorry Growing Weary if I offended you. This was never my intentions. I only started reading this thread about 2 weeks ago. I thought it was to voice your opinion, so this is what I was doing. I do have 3 children ages 5, 7, and 12 so I am interested in their education. I will not post anything else because I would never intentionally hurt anyone. So sorry to anyone else if I offended you. I might continue reading but will keep my opinions to myself.

I'm not offended at all, and I respect your opinion. I guess I am more offended by so much negative input and nothing positive. I think as a mom of three, you must have great knowledge concerning kids. I only ment give us your knowledge not just the sad stuff. This page has so much trash you can't get thru it. So keep on talking. PLEASE

If you will go to the above web site you will see that mom of 3 must be wrong about the education level of the teacher's aides at the school. Teacher's Aides are called paraeducators. If you would like to see the criteria for being an aide to the above website. Most aides work really hard and do not get paid a 1/3 of what the teachers make. Most do it because they love working with children and want to make a difference in their lives.

I think everyone's opinion matters. Would anyone care to tell the postitives and the negatives of this school..as we all know that EVERY School in every town has bad things that happens just as much of the good news of good reports...

Are they a top 10 School?

I would be interested in knowing what sets this School apart from the others academically, clicks, are the Teachers nice, do they treat kids fair, and yes please tell some of the bad tales as that helps determine ones judgement on IF this is the right school for their child..

Science Hill School has its problems, like any other school. However, its test scores speak volumes as to the kind of education the children receive. They try very hard to make every kind of sport available to the kids. Also languages are being taught. That sounds well rounded to me.

i went to science hill from 5th to 8th grade. It's a hard school the teachers really strive for success. I didnt think they treated anyone bad they are just strict on their rules. They have a really big interest in the children's lives beyond school. They are preparing us for our futures. Everyone there was very nice and we were all so close. To tell the truth I miss going there. Now im a senior at PCHS. And I ave achieved alot academically thanks to them. =)

I do not recommend Science Hill. They do not treat the children well or even fairly. I don't think it has anything to do with social circles though. I think it is more to do with test scores. The reason Science Hills test scores are so high is because they put average children in special ed just to hide their test scores as the scores from the special ed dept. are not added in to the schools total scores. When we transfered our child to Hustonville she was in the middle of being tested for special ed at Science Hill. So I had Hustonville take a look at the testing they had done and they wanted to know why they were doing testing for a freshman in high school on my daughter who was in the third grade. I am very glad to say that my daughter doesn't have a learning disability and that she has since been very successful in school.

It would be interesting to see the books on the "contributions" made and by who. I realize an independent school has a lot of financial obligations, and possibly fubdraisers or other income producing enterprises are necessary. But what are they and how much is needed and for what? I had great experiences at SHS, and I am concerned for their future, but PTA was never something I wanted to be involved with for other reasons.
