Why do you think Romney got in such hot water when he pointed out the 47% number?

Since 2008 the Food Stamp program has exploded from 29 million on its rolls to the current number of 47 million. The Dept. of Ag. is actively trying to enroll people in the Food Stamp program. Not all of them are even in the US! Think about this...the Dept of Ag. is buying ad space on Mexican radio and TV stations to instruct illegals on how to sign up for Food Stamps once they get across the border!
i read that the mexican gov is printing maps and instructions on how to get to the USA. the money sent back is their number 1 source of revenue.

Food Stamps huh? So what is so bad about feeding your fellow man? Would it be better to give more money to the rich or feed the poor? Don't know if you guys have heard about this guy named Jesus but there is an alot of buildings that are build in his name around here. I wonder what he would think of not wanting to feed the poor. I guess people don't really care what he thinks or believe in him.
Bronston Man you seem like one of the most evolved on here. Did you know that Dick Cheney had maps of how the Iraq oil fields were going to be split up among the oil companies in March 2001?
I wonder how many veterans of the Iraq war is on food stamps. Think of the root of the issues and you will realize that food stamps is just a cover issue.
.
Oh, on the issue of veterans. Any severice veteran deserves every thing they get and more. Not just Iraq veterans. Veterans have earned what they get. Bought and paid for.

I don't think anyone on here minds feeding the poor, But why should we supply the slugs that can work with all their wants. Not needs. When a person gets more freebees than a person working a minimum wage job, why work. Our system is broke.
Jesus would tell the slugs to get off their ass, and get a job. There was no welfare during his time. Jesus would not give druggies and alcoholics a free check. "Free corn" will get you every time.
The oil fields have nothing to do with our welfare system.
Obviously you know the modern day GOP Jesus that lives on Wall Street. He never told anyone to get off their ass. Most minimum wage people get food stamps BTW. Yes the system is broke. It tramples the poor and gives greed and evil the right to run amok.

I used the oil field story to show an example of how we have killed people (in other countries) to give to the rich. It is the mindset like you got that contradicts the bible and just goes on what reverend 'Red' said or what Fox News spews.

We have a drug problem because we have a Rx industry that makes huge profits on people getting addicted and physicians get the kickbacks. Plus now we have corporate prisons where the shareholders profit on the crime rate going up. But I suppose it's all in "gods" name right? Remember that it's how you treat the least of these is how you would treat Christ. The least of these is the druggie, the poor, the lazy, etc. But I suppose that you maybe just choose to listen to the rich, whom, the bible says will not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

In the words of the congressman that got caught propositioning an under cover cop for sex in the mens restroom of the Minneapolis St Paul airport. "What do you think of that?"

So, not only are they encouraging an illegal act that threatens national sovereignty, they are also encouraging those same illegals to sign up for handouts!

More than HALF of the population of the US now receives some form of govt welfare. That is both shocking and disgusting!
So, why is this happening? It's simple. Centralization of power thru dependence on the government. It's typically a Marxist-Socialist tactic that has been adopted by the liberal left in this country. They have been moving us toward a Socialist Democracy for some time now. Obamacare is simply a step toward single-payer healthcare...run by the government. So, if you have a large percentage of the population dependent on govt for food and ALL of the populace forced to get healthcare coverage thru the govt...that equates to a lot of power under centralized control.
Lets not forget about the mountains of regulations that are now being spewed out of Washington. It's plainly and simply about control.
It has nothing to do with Socialism (which isn't all that bad of a thing). It has everything to do with this:

1. If the food stamp program was eliminated the corporate grocery chains profit margins would drop. Bad for CEO Wall Street types.
2. Who do you think employees the cheap labor illegal immigrants? Corporate America needs them because the cheap labor market is held up by them. For a lesson in Greed 101. Lower Wages = Higher Profit for the shareholders.
3. The Dept of Ag is like most of the government, controlled by lobbyists and Wall Street money.

Your Fox News poll don't mean nothing to me. Just like a poll from one of my sources would be scoffed by you.

Look at the sponsors of Fox News and then pay close attention to the headlines. It's all a money thing and maybe you are too blind to see it.

It's not about being the entire populous being dependent on the government. Gheez that argument is tired and old. It's about the cycle of money that goes from our tax dollars to the low wage workforce and into the pockets of Wall Street.

Look at this. The majority of low wage workers at lets say... Wal-Mart is on food stamps. Then tax dollars are being spent to subsidize that corporation that is very profitable and could pay a better wage but never will because the system works well for them. I wonder what percentage of Wal-Mart's food sales come from the food stamp program? Its kind of like check kiting only with tax dollars.

My final point is this (if you read this far down... good I've got your attention).

The US economy is propped up by programs such as food stamps and illegal immigrants. Pull either or and the whole system (Wall Street) falls. And know you know what the lobbyists are doing up in DC. It's not the tree huggers or environmentalists, remember hippies are poor and they don't have corporate backing so they can't donate to a liberal or conservative campaign.

So you are against anyone making a good living, humm interesting.
If you believe in the bible. Why would you want to be in the place, next to the worst mass murderer ever? If it makes you feel better about yourself, believing in the streets gold. Have at it.
Why are christians so afraid of death? This is not a bible class.

This is an extremely sad story and is indicative of what our country has become.

One of the three thugs that shot the Australian jogger bragged about knocking out five white people since the Zimmerman verdict.

Similar attacks by blacks on whites have occurred since the verdict.

I wish they would try that on me.

you are correct, HOWEVER, if it had been 3 white drug dealers beating a black kid for revenge, it WOULD HAVE BECOME A RACIAL EVENT, WOULDN'T IT?
some people would make a racist event of what happened. others would make a racist event of the hypothetical situation you describe. to that extent, it would be in the eye of the beholder, or in the intent of the describer of the event (such as media types) to stir up racial trouble. we can only know if there is a racist event in the mind of the attacker if we know enough about the mind of the attacker. and we can know whether public officials treat situations similarly, depending on the race of an attacker and the race of a victim. we certainly should look at the statistics regarding the behavior of those in the justice system when there are interracial attacks, just as we should look at the behavior of the cops when they do racial profiling, or of courts when members of minority races often get tougher sentences for the same crimes (drugs, for example). it is actually possible to set aside much of one's racial bias, and look into causes of violence as well. that is why these matters should be approached seriously in a way that is as close to a scientificly accurate measurement of stats, and a psychologically accurate measurement of attitudes, as possible. not likely on topix.
