drove i75 to work to lexington, dont know how many times i would see 30-40 lfucg police vehicles in a caravan heading to eku for class - waste of money, the officers get to use the vehicles for personal use, including families and driving home at nite, sometimes officers worked in lexington but lived in other countys, just something to think about.

Same way the sheriffs office is here. I see them at Walmart,Kroger, the mall, and high school sports all the time. And no, they're not working if they're carrying their groceries out in plain clothes..lol. Total waste of tax payers money on gas.

Free gas or grocery trips? Or do they itemize their travel as business vs personal?

The cars sitting in the parking lot downtown serve no purpose, it's a deterrent to crime if they're visible sitting in neighborhoods and when on the road. Since they're required to drive the cars home why restrict them from stopping at the store on the way? If they're in civilian clothes, while off duty, and driving their cars they are still subject to be called to an incident at a moments notice. This decreases the response time. All these benefits to the public for the price of some gas.

Most of the objections to this are based on green eyed jealousy.

I'm not sure what any of this has to do with the proposed city-county merger.

I can see both sides to this argument. In some ways, it could be a real boon to the area. In other ways, maybe not so much. The thing that bothers me is that we would still be stuck with the same number of people at the same salaries, even if their jobs weren't the same. Doesn't make sense. What really doesn't make sense is how King Girdler reacts to anyone who dares express an idea or opinion that differs from his. It's obvious he only cares about what is good for him. Let's think about the entire area for a while.

I am surprise that Somerset or Pulaski Co. does not tax water meters. In some counties in KY water meters are taxed to pay for 911 or EMS services. There was a case in the past couple months that was ruled legal.

It's well known he wants to take the county and make it part of HIS city. Kinda cute how he's reacting now that somebody else has the opposite idea.

Somerset's criminals just want more money and power. No one who lives outside of Somerset's reach wants this felony trash having any say in any thing that goes on in our communities. Somerset has reaped what they have sowed, death to the lot of them. If they ram this through it's time to start killing this trash, go right in their homes and hack their children to death.
Bet you wouldn't say that if you weren't behind a proxy, coward.

Not seeing that at all. I'm not a big fan of the Mayor but, why would he demand the County fork over its share of EMS funding if he had some sort of designs on the County? Doesn't make sense.

The City has been doing the heavy lifting in providing utilities for County residents for quite some time. EMS, water, gas, etc. I think it's only right that the County start putting some money back into the hands that feed it.

I think they're referring to annexation of county roads by the city. What they fail to mention is Somerset has yet to annex anyone that hasn't asked to become part of the city.

Hey Paul Revere, the city provides water for most of the county but they charge for so its not like they are giving it for free. EMS is primarily funded by the county and though reimbursement from insurance and billing.
And to Sorry But... As for the deputies driving their cruisers if you have a need for that deputy would you want him to drive his own car home, get his equipment then drive to your house or wherever you are needing help?
