He's a nice guy, but I think he's gotten too political. We really need a new breed of politician who is willing to make radical changes that will slash costs everywhere and, actually, give us tax cuts.
We need to cut payroll and benefit costs, and staff (including the politicians themselves) must learn to do more with less. Period.
Furthermore, the government's purpose is NOT to provide jobs but to support infrastructure, business, and the public's best interests.
Every government building, every office, every procedure, every person, every item, every expense must be evaluated with the potential of being eliminated.

If Mr Knowles is willing to be a different kind of politician, I know he will win by a significant margin. However, if all he can do is harp on menial issues (typical), avoid the big ones (they all do it), make statements of opinion that carry no weight, and do a lot of insincere hand-shaking, his chances of winning will be shaky.
Even if Mr. Knowles does win, if he's just another cookie in the box, he will never be a guy who long remembered (and loved) in Schuylkill County.
I hope Mr. Knowles is brave enough to stand alone in being a true leader for big changes that will surely ruffle a lot of feathers.
The payoff for being such a guy: A lean government that will benefit the public and future generations, and will be a model for other government entities. And, most importantly, the public's respect and love, which is rarely seen these days.

...and it will end any chance at making the changes to be made as the big governemt people will vote him (or any other person) out in 18 months. your idea makes a lot of sense and I would hope for the same.

It's up to the electorate to make a difference if the elected official will make that change. Youve said it yourself, we all need to do our part.

Hopefully if he would win he would do something about our horrible property tax system. Argall claimed to support the elimination of property tax yet he, along with all our politicians, failed miserably at doing so.

Nobody has come up with any ideas. It's all fluff. There is no way to get rid of the property tax and still maintain any local control of the school system. The states testing system is failing. Copying all of California's educational plans has been a joke since the '70's. (or earlier, that's as far as I remember) We can't teach or fight crime in school relying on state and federal guidance. We are failing future generations. Someone is going to have to pay for schools.

Knowles is just Argall under a different name. He cursed at citizens at council meetings as mayor. He'd be a terrible choice.

I'd have to agree. Knowles is just a well-known name, definitely not a well-known leader with a history of walking to his own beat, tackling the issues people care about most or making waves.
Like most in politics, he puts on a tough exterior but is really too scared, for many reasons, to fight for meaningful change.

But there is a plan. In fact it was studied by the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee and found to be a viable option. The problem was our politicians failed to do anything with their recommendation. Taxing our properties is an outdated unfair process.

Knowles hasn't done anything memorable. 20 years from now, nobody's gonna be say, "Remember Jerry..."
If you think Mackey is good, say why. Is this man willing to stick his neck out for the people, and attack over-sized (and growing)government, high taxes and fees?
I also want term limits, without any obligation to pay anything to any PUBLIC SERVANT after they are gone. Is Mackey ready to get down to business?

I do not care which party a good public servant is from. All I care about are his character and the issues he is willing to fight hard for.

Promises, promises, just like LYING, THIEVING Dave Argall. Jerry will not do anything about eliminating property taxes and actually could not,if he wanted to, because Dave Argall is still pulling his strings.
