The main reasons for the nursing shortage are:(1) Monopoly capitalism;(2) Gender discrimination against men in nursing; and,(3) The unjust absolute power nursing clinical instructors have to fail nursing students in their nursing clinicals despite the students passing their nursing non-clinical courses (this discourages individuals from entering into nursing). In "monopoly capitalism", capital is exported from a nation instead of the products of a nation produced by it's own workers. What is capital? Capital is money, industry, and labor. In the case of nursing, monopoly capitalists, in order to maintain short term profits, unstable working conditions for nurses, and unfavorable working conditions for nurses have succeeded in "exporting labor" into the nursing labor market by promulgating the immigration into the USA of foreign born nurses to the extend they now represent approximately 30%-40% of all nurses. Thus, they have "monopolized" the nursing labor market. "Monopoly capitalism" destroys true capitalism which is characterized by free enterprise and competition. Monopoly capitalism tends to concentrate both wealth and political power in a few individuals and entities while true capitalism tends to both enrich the general public and spread political power. "Monopoly capitalism" tends to impoverish the general publica (nursing labor market in this instance.)

I do however, agree with #3. You know what they say...if you can't do, teach.
