Exit polls show it too close to call. Will you promise not to spike the football if you win today?

lets watch how great the DA's office is run. I bet some judges will be pulling out their hair in the next couple of years.

Interesting photo....

Theresa Santai-Gaffney in the background over Holman's shoulder, celebrating Holman's victory....

Was the Santai-Gaffney/Clarke clan there just for the free food? Or is there more to the story?

Was there anything left in the crock pot?

Did the Tea Party sign off on this?

Many new ADA's. Word is she is cleaning house and replacing most with some attorneys who do not do criminal work or who do not have trial experience. Should be interested to see. I hope she at least keeps SOMEONE who knows what to do once we get to February and the new trial term begins.

I guess that is why WNEP referred to this race as "The Wheel of Fortune"

WNEP - After a competitive and sometimes bruising campaign, the Frackville attorney found the wheel of fortune turned her way.

Losers?

You guys (family, immediate and extended) are sued all the time for not paying your bills.

You depend on favors from people because you can't make it by yourselves.

Maybe if you spent less time on Topix and the newspaper website and actually tried to make a living....

You and your family (all the DUIs) on both sides.....

Your family wouldn't be the laughing stock of the county.

At least the Liptoks pay their bills and don't rack up DUIs like it's a badge of honor.

Just sayin'

don't know what family you are talking about but the Lippy's aren't exactly the pillars of society. hell, you're posting on here at 2 a.m. what time do you go to work?

2am is when most of the bars let out in Schuylkill County.

I think I know the family(s) referenced here. Everybody has a skeleton or two. Now that the election is over, I vote we go back to making Topix: ALL KERNAL, ALL THE TIME.

Now if we could only get Da Kernal to participate. Any suggestions?

Free ham & pepsi if he comes back to Topix?
Could we start a "fundme" website like Kessler's to start a collection for a new car for Da Kernal?

Any other ideas to entice Da Kernal back? Or should we all make fake facebook accounts and go argue with him there?

One of us could be Kevin Costner, the other Clint Eastwood, Jar O. Pickles, etc.

Recount sought in Schuylkill DA race

11/19/2013

Voters in two hotly contested local races asked Schuylkill County Court on Monday to order recounts in each contest.

In the most notable one, the petitions asks for a recount in the race for district attorney, where certified totals show as of now that Republican Christine A. Holman defeated Democratic incumbent Karen Byrnes-Noon by 73 votes, 15,265 to 15,192.

The petitioners in the district attorney case, former state Rep. Tim Seip, Chief Deputy Sheriff Brian Tobin and Jennifer Laughlin, allege that Holman's margin of victory is less than 0.5 percent, which would trigger an automatic recount.

They also allege there was an error in the counting of approximately 1,600 absentee ballots that affected the result.

"There appeared to be a computer glitch during the counting of the absentee ballots ... in that the optical scanner would not read some of the absentee ballots," the petition reads in part.

As a result, the count was inaccurate and does not show the correct number of votes cast by absentee ballot, according to the petition.

"Petitioners allege that Karen Byrnes-Noon is the winner of the election for the office of Schuylkill County District Attorney," the petition reads in part.

Unofficial election night totals showed Holman ahead by 15,258 to 15,191.

The three petitioners say they posted a cash deposit of $6,250, as required by the state Election Code, with the county prothonotary when they filed their request for a recount.

Holman is probably throwing things around the house. just when she was about to crack down on blight, they have to pull these shenanigans.somebody is going to jail.

lol. And don't forget she was also going to do something about property taxes. Even though the DA has NOTHING to do with taxes. If she still wins I hope she learns what the DA actually does before January!

yip! property taxes and blight. maybe she can also do welfare reform, abortion rights, and euthanasia. wait? isn't she supposed to be a DA? one thing is for sure, her term will be exciting if she did win.
