Good point, but it is clear that you and countless others commenting on this story have few "Facts" and tons of speculation and gossip."Three of the guns were real."
Those three guns are legally owned by the parents, stored in a locked gun cabinet, and the key to the gun cabinet is locked in a safe. The accused student did not have access to those weapons.
"He made homemade bombs from DEODORANT."
Was he really planning to use those "bombs" and what is the efficacy of them?
"I hardly think this is something that's over dramatized."
The police laid out the real weapons removed from the locked gun cabinet and displayed them alongside the toy guns that this guy made. I wonder if you know the individual personally or are you relying on your observations of him in school? The police choreographed this incident a little too much by trying to replicate big time criminal busts seen on a national/international level. Again I ask, did this student have access to the real weapons in the gun cabinet? You and the police and the school administration simply do not have that answer, only speculation.
"Going to school with the kid for the past 4 years and knowing the people he threatened gives you a completely different viewpoint on the thing.
Has nothing to do with his parents or bullying."
Certainly you have unique insights, but once again, do you know him? If it was not a result of bullying, then what provoked this alleged threat? Also, what can be said of the integrity of his accuser(s)? There is much more to be learned.
"To my knowledge, he wasn't really bullied either.
Really, people, sometimes you need to think before you post things like that."
Okay again, so why the threat and while we are on it, who was the source of the information and again, what is that person(s)'s character?
"It doesn't affect everyone. People are all different. What affects someone else may not affect others in the same manner. You can't just generalize and say this wouldn't have happened if people didn't bully him or if his parents held tighter scrutiny of him."
What facts can I add to this story?
1. He is a C+/ B- student, and from my observations friendly with a unique group of friends.
2. He is very knowledgeable on military history, and 20th/21st century infantry weapons. He has a keen interest in the Israeli military, their weapons and the history of the Arab-Israeli Conflict.
3. Often seen talking to military recruiters during visits to the High School. With a cousin serving in the 82nd airborne, his desire is to join the Army and become an airborne trooper as well.
