and the cost of the vehicles, which we can sell off - the day to day expenses in gas and supplies - other employee related expenses... we have plenty of city workers that drive around town all day - ditch the pd.

Which will be expenses also incurred with the sheriffs office. Damn you people are dumb and have weak excuses to get rid of pd. The sheriff will need new vehicles too. Don't think the county will pay for those.

Rollie and mort should be named neil and bob because that's probably what you do best. Ive noticed nothing but trailer trash inbreds seem to be wanting the SO you guys seem to hate the PD because you have obviously been busted by them. Maybe you should get hooked on phonics and learn to read, and attempt to read the paper the PD stats are in there every month. And it seams they do a lot. Oh and learn to spell and use proper grammar for shit sakes your embarrassing.

I am wondering if an elected official like the Sherrif is held accountable for any problems? I mean its not like the city can fire him if there is a problem. That is what they usually do right? Also, I am concerned as a DC resident if the DCPD goes away will the county be able to handle the county and the city? I don't want our town to have more of a drug problem and crime problem than they already do. I would like to hear your comments.

No the city cannot fire the sheriff. But the sheriff can terminate the contract with notice and also can increase the price at any time. If the contract is terminated then the city will have to start over with building a new PD and that would be very expensive. Also no officers would want to come to a town to work if the town already got did of its PD. Nobody seems to want to look at the long term effects if the PD is gone.

Dear Wondering, do not, repeat, do not believe anything common sense tells you. The contract has NOT been written, so why would a sane person start telling others what a document says that is yet to be written?

The long term effects of the PD closing are great, savng the City $90,000 per year forever, having better service, not employing the officers that other agencies have fired. The quality of the PD depends on the expectations of the Mayor and Council and the attention that they pay to the operation of the department. Like other depatments of the City, right now is a poor time to take a look. There are no expectations from the Mayor and the Council is too busy with golf carts and 4 wheelers and firing the City Attorney to pay attention to what is really going on in town. It is kind of a mess right now. We just spent $25,000 +++ to get a 38 page water department survey that basically said that our department doesn't have a clue. The girls in the City office already knew the answer and would have written it down for free.

The County cannot fire the Sheriff, or the County Attorney, or the County Treasurer, or the County Clerk either.....and just how have we made it until the year 2012 with such a bad arrangement?
Common sense can probably put a pretty good spin on that one? We're listening oh great bag of wind.

Funny how you "what" say there is no contract written but you know the figures kind of of a contradiction don't you think. And wondering don't listen to what he doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground. Navy seal my ass. The total savings according to your math yesterday what was only 49000 now your talking 90000 in savings obviously your stupid. You also are leaving out the fact that s contract with the county is forever when is isn't the sheriff there now won't be there forever and a new sheriff can change the contract or drop it all together. Go spread your one sided half truth bulshit somewhere else what. Ps still anxious to meet your dumb ass.

And wondering the total savings IS only going to be less than 50000 a year. For only 120 hours of coverage a week. While with the PD its 24/7.

And Wandering, take a look at What's last post on the forum about mayor Zavodney he totally contradicts himself. He also in this post here says I don't know what I'm talking about because there is no contract, but yet he can spout exactly what HE thinks will be saved by contracting. The truth is the savings will only be around 47000 to 49000 a year. Is that worth the less coverage hours and longer response times? And in all reality the Sheriff would hire a ordinance officer to handle city ordinances, so that's more money for the city to pay the county. Again the Sheriff at any time can terminate the contract or increase it. David City will have to comply with whatever the Sheriff wants, we will be at the mercy of the Sheriffs Office. What doesn't think things through or look at facts, he just spouts what sounds good and what he thinks will make the Sheriffs Office sound better. I honestly think he is a council member that is for the contracting, and he shouldn't be talking about it anywhere but in the council meetings anyways, either that or a butt buddy of a council member. So go ahead what lets hear some more bs that you spew sooooo well. PS try to read your other posts before you type a new one so you don't contradict yourself or look so fucking stupid.

Common Sense...... I have read your posts and you seem like a angry citizen who has a difficult time expresses yourself because this whole public gossip site seems to be your main objective to life as we see it. First I would slow your typing speed and concentrate on not repeated yourself post to post. Your concern for the community is worthy of praise but you really have nothing to say relevant to anything other than your own anger. I have went back and forth with some of the best but my guess is you are elderly gentleman with a considerable amount of time on your hands and formally went by the handle of Scout 49. I really don't believe you truly understand what you are asking for and seem a little mis-lead. I would also advise you take mind of the threats you post as this site is under watchful eyes with your computer IPO right out their for everyone to see. Tough guys behind false pretenses claiming to want to meet face to face with anyone that doesn't share your veiws is at best what I call "little man syndrome"

common sense is a glowing example of what is wrong with David City today. Too many are ill informed, are angry, are led by people who have never given a lick, or done a great deal for the community. The people who have the ability to move the community ahead sit at home and are quiet. The ballot box is where David City regains positive momentum, and unfortunately there is little hope in sight.

What I won't disagree with you on that one. I'm talking about the officers that are working now today. They are doing there best to repair what the prior officers have done and its probably not an easy task. But these officers are not like the officers in the last 20 years. Give them a chance is all I'm saying. Its not fair to judge them based on prior officers. Check them out what I did. They were not fired from previous agencies and have some pretty goof credentials.
