Mr. Frank Serpico is my hero since the 80's.
His character is great, he is one of the few police officers, who tell the truth and he came out and let the public knew all about police corruption.
I live in Germany, not in the USA. But I think, he is the hero of many many people outside USA.

Police Officer Frank Serpico was a true leader during his days with the NYPD. Those that "go along" with corruption posses the inability to stand up on their own two feet, and are in effect followers. For those, it is easier to go with the flow than to walk against the tide. Although I was very young during Serpico's time in the NYPD, I am very aware that in my own hometown of Los Angeles, and many other big and small city police departments, corruption was or became known at some point in our not too distant histories. Hopefully now, there are many more Frank Serpico's serving U.S. citizens in our nation's police forces today. We cannot thank him for his standards and integrity and for doing the what was right enough.
