ROSIE'S CAFE in Richmondville, NY (CLOSING OR NOT CLOSING?)

There are 23 comments on the story from Apr 30, 2008, titled ROSIE'S CAFE in Richmondville, NY (CLOSING OR NOT CLOSING?). In it, reports that:

It has been confirmed that "Rosie's Cafe" in Richmondville will be closing. Another business that's gone sour. They were doing well when they first opened about a year and a half ago until this long last winter hit us brutally. Business has gone down due to the weather and no one really had a clue on when the nasty falls of snow was going to end. Their business was wonderful. The cheerful staff, great cook, and best of all they were the only restaurant that DELIVERED. (Imagine that, a restaurant that delivered.) But unfortunately they had a downfall. It would have been a greater blooming business if they let their cook try some new ideas for the business, customers pry on things like that, especially in the area. Customers thrive for new taste. Since the owner of Rosie's started letting go of employees due to lack of business, they let go of the best thing they had going in that restaurant since the place opened and that was their morning cook. Since then, people in the area have heard the rumors and started going else where. Many have said time and time again that "their morning cook is their priceless possesion." I, myself believe it to be the truth of Rosie's Cafe. Their cook was the most patient, vast, friendly, and nothing is a special not unless it is made just for YOU, your FAMILY and/or FRIENDS. And so the business that would have picked up more this spring that everyone was looking forward to, all the kids that were hoping for a nice walk on a hot summer day to get ice-cream, has now gone sour. Furthermore, here is the final question...will it close for good or will they change their decissions, make it enough to stay open and bring their employee back? (If so, I will be the first one to be there.)

Yes we will make it and as I said before our cook has not left us. One of our kitchen aids were terminated for reasons I cannot say but I can assure you it was for good reason.

I have to say I think it to be quite rude of you to make comment without all the facts. Why don't you here it from the horses mouth first before putting your foot in it. Our morning/afternoon and anything we need her for cook has been here since the very first day we opened. She is the only one who opens every morning and preps for the day. Infact she makes everything from soup to nuts. She does the inventory ,the baking, the cooking , the soups.........EVERYTHING. We did have a kitchen aide that we let go for reasons I cannot say but you can be sure of this. I don't let anyone go without good reason. We still have many employee's since the very first day we opened. Obviously you have'nt been here in a while and your talking to a uptight TERMINATED EMPLOYEE.

Service remains the same and it's probably coincidental but business has actually picked up quite a bit since their departure.

Furthermore, why don't you come down and see and hear it from the man who know's what going on.

By the way. Your business has GONE "SOUR" as they call it since you let go of your cook. Yeah he was too THE ONLY BEST COOK YOU EVER HAD compared to all the idiots that didn't know how to cook from squat even your night cooks sucked why do you think you had and still have no business in the evening!!! Oh and your so called cook LIZ was not your regular cook in the morning. She did do everything, the nicest and sincere lady I've ever met but honestly she's the worst cook you've got. HAHAH why the freaking hell do you think you got no business now? My family and friends would always go there all the way from Preston Hollow just because of your morning cook and it was well worth the drive. Since I've been there recently all the meals we've had were DOG CRAP!!! A lot of people are complaining and spreading the word that the meals they've had are horrible lately.

Oh and by the way, EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT THE FACT THAT YOU ARE THE MOST COMPLICATED PERSON TO WORK WITH. THAT YOU HAVE NO APPRECIATION. AND THAT YOU ARE INDECISIVE AND THESE ARE COMING FROM ALL OVER.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, YOUR COMMENTS ON HERE ARE COMPLETE BS. AND EVERYONE IN COBLESKILL ARE LAUGHING AT YOU AND NO ONE WANTS TO COME IN TO YOUR PLACE NOW BECAUSE YOU HAVE SOMEONE IN THERE WHO CAN'T COOK NOT EVEN IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT. JUST LIKE WHAT'S BEEN SAID THE PAST WEEK SINCE PEOPLE FOUND OUT YOU LET GO OF YOUR COOK, "YOUR FULL OF YOUR OWN CRAP."

No one cares anymore. There's a new restaurant in town that is to die for now...and which as a matter of fact everyone wants to go there for lunch now. Can't wait until this Sunday, church goers here we come. No more trips to Richmondville.

Hello,
I just want to say that everyone can say what they want about my husband. But let me tell you something, wether he was a good cook or not, he enjoyed what he did for a living. He has a wife, a son, and another son on the way. For him to lose his job was unfair. I can say that what was done to him was cruely unfair. But it's time to move on.
As far as Rosie's business yes, your right Mari there's another restaurant out there.
All I can say that pisses me off about these comments is the fact that now you are saying that there was more to it for you to let my husband go that you didn't mention or tell him which I believe he had every right to know. You write about it as if he never existed in your cafe. I believe that you are wrong and to call him an "uptight terminated employee" to make him sound worthless is definitely wrong.
Good luck in your business, hope everything does work out for you as you say it will. And to everyone else that's having a big huge fit about Rosie's, I don't know what to say but thank you for being "sincere".
P.S. If anyone else have something to say, including you (Rosie's Cafe). Say it. And to the person who sent me the URL for this article for me to read, "I thank you."

Is everyone on this thing only on the weekends? The cook is gone??? I go there with my girl every other weekend for breakfast. I was gonna go tomorrow. Nevermind then, I only went there because that big guy makes good food. And my girlfriend loved going because everything was cooked to perfection. I guess we ain't going there no more. Does anyone know where and who he is cooking for now? Please let me know.

Know the fact before you blurt your words. Out of respect for him and his family I cannot give the reason for his departure. I can appreciate you being his friend and are upset as well as his wife for his recent departure. I can only say it was just and if he was truely honest with you and his wife he would tell you the series of events that have taken place up to the time of termination. I have not made it hard for him to collect unemployment and I thought we parted on good terms. As I have said previously, I am a pretty patient person with the greatest respect for my employee's. If you knew me you would know that fact about me. So I wish him good luck and no hard feelings. This was a business decision. I encourage you to let it go.

Well well well keep pretending why don't you. And you sure can't read neither. But it's not the cook I know, as a matter of fact I keep forgetting his name and didn't even know he had a wife. But it's not them that I know. It's your wife. So maybe you should ask her how upset she's been.

Well how would you know how upset she was if you didn't know her. She really did say anything but a bunch of bullshit about how her poor husband lost his job. Obv. there is something that he does wrong if he is about to have his second kid and keep a job.

marimid the ficticous name you choose to use because of your cowardness. Grow up and let it go already. I am not sure who the people are that responded to your comments but obviously they have about as much time on there hands as you do. I appreciate there opinion as I would anyone elses but there are diplomatic ways to approach different situations. Just consider the fact that there is another side. I don't care for the words or tone or context you put your words in. No the facts and all there is to know about something before you open that big mouth of yours. Nothing worse than people letting their ignorance over power their intelligence. I am not sure why anyone would talk to you about their personel business anyway. You can't hold water. Anything that happend at the place of business stays there. Don't make the situation at hand worse . You continue to run your mouth and bad mouth me and my business it definately will.

you and the father of your first son took in your so called husband the so called friend into your apartment to cut the expenses of renting , got into a spit spat because the father of your son suspected you two of sleeping together and threw him out. after camping out in the back yard of a friends house for several weeks you all decided to make a go of it again and three's company once again. no punt intended.after a few weeks of living together he caut you sleeping together again and threw him out again. you all denied it and low and behold you are pregnant with his child. two kids two fathers. i call that bad carma. i am inclined to believe that there was more to the story of getting fired than your "husband" told you and don't be so quick to get pitty bestowed upon you your no angel either

He does seem to way too much about the situation. The fact that the reason the cook was let go because of the lack of business does not look good for the cook either. Had he been such a precious possesion, why was there no business while he was there? If he is so good I am sure he will find a new job soon.
