"The entire fight by MM/EJ is disengenuous and bogus. they may appear to be fighting for valid reasons but their true colors show in that they are fighting only the military and only in that valley. With as small as Oahu is, one would think that ANY development would be over "historic", "culturally significant", or spiritual" land. Yet these groups are mum to any and all development or utilization except for everything the army is doing.
True cultural warriors should be fighting for RESTORATION as well as preservation: RESTORE all of Kaneohe, Hawaii Kai, Manoa Valley, Pearl Harbor, et al to its original, culturally and spiritually correct, state. The fact that they only **** about army training underscores their narrow minded bogusness."
Oh brudda. Put down that kool-aid and step away from the still.
Seriously, where's the concern to restore Manoa Valley to its proper? Let's hear it. what about any of the other wet valleys that supported ancient life, let's rectify those, too. Hmm. no one is willing to say uproot the town but lets stop training in Makua, huh? And what exactly was makua being used for, before the training, and what will it would be used for if it were to be magically returned to... to who?

This shouldn't surprise anyone. Suckering the Army into conducting an EIS was only a delaying action when public support favored the military after 9-11. And, of course, the Army jumped on the offer at the time as it had far more pressing priorities to deal with. Never did Earth Justice intend to accept any EIS, no matter how complete. It is not the intent of Malama Makua to reach an accomodation with the Army, nor is it the intent for Earth Justice to discontinue legal action against the goose that lays the golden eggs (do you think EJ lawyers are doing this for free?). The perfect marriage of an irrelevant collection of vocal political wanna-bes and a mercenary legal group lining its own pockets at taxpayer expense under the guise of protecting the environment.

Patriot Kimo forgot to mention Makaha Valley, Waimanalo Gulch, etc. We are so fortunate that "Carpet Baggers" come here from the mainland to save our aina, to name a few Henkins, Mikiluna, Jamie Fox, Steve Holmes, Abercrumby, Carrol Cox, and Duke Bainum (he ma'ke already). "Shaka Brudda!"

face the facts: malama makua wants all the military out of HI; the military can conduct their training somewhere else but won't because it will cost them more and their soldiers won't be able to enjoy the sun and the beaches of HI.

shame on both of them for being selfish. malama makua members don't give a rip about people whose livelihood is dependent on military's presence; and the military don't care about all the damages they're causing.

i'm not proposing any kind of solution; just that the two sides seem like a couple of kids fighting for the same toy.

"LOOK AT YOUR OWN BACKYARD WITH HAWAIIAN'S LITTERING MAJOR TRASH ALL ALONG THE BEACHES NEXT TO MAKUA VALLEY."

MALAMA MAKUA, YOU ARE A LOAD NOISE IN THE FOREST HEARD BY NO ONE. PROTEST YOUR OWN PEOPLE'S DAMAGE OF HAWAIIA'S BEACHES AND HELP THEM CLEAN IT UP.

Then maybe people will start to listen to your BIG MOUTH'S.

It doesn't matter, no matter what the Army does it will never be considered good enough until these little b@stards get their way.

The Army should invite these little sniveling twits to the range and let them inspect ground zero....

Looky here y'all.

Why not put up a Wendy's across from that big cave at Makua on Farrington way out there, and post a "no public restroom" on the door of the fast food shop.

Wanna bet what happens?

Huh?

All you guys make me laugh! Do you think that just because you attempt to demean MM with your uneducated"ideas" that it is ok to continue to poison the westside? MM is not asking the Army for nothing but the truth about whats in the aina-after all, we may have to rely on food from there one day. No one gave the military the ok to do all that contaminating!! Dont hate them (MM) because they care about the health of their ohana. I think its awesome at the possiblity of the military leaving my homeland. You guys, mind your business-not your aina. Stop w/the propaganda-IDIOTS. E ola mau-Malama Makua
