Making money the old fashioned way...theft.

OK Captain, when you get out run for office, sounds like you are qualified.

Obviously not that smooth. He got caught, however, he sounds right for a run as one of Hawaii's legislators. This proves he has the qualifications. Only difference is if, as a legislator, he gets caught, nothing will happen to him except perhaps reelection.

What a lolo, taking a quarter million dollars to the bank in a duffel bag and asking for a cashiers check. Doesn't he know banks are required to report all transactions over $10K. I bet this request raised a lot of eyebrows and was what doomed his scheme.
He has the morals of a politician but is not sneaky enough.

According to his plea agreement, Gilliam took $254,000 of the stolen money in a duffel bag to a First Hawaiian Bank branch when he returned to Oahu in 2005 to purchase a cashier's check to buy a house.

This makes the stupid crooks file. NUMBA 1

My theory of evolution depends on humans being the top of the food chain. Somewhere along the line this guy fell through the evolutionary chain and went back to the head of the line.

Ahhhhh, so what happened to the other $146,000? And how was the theft discovered? C'mon, SB, do a better job.

What a dumb-bell. A captain? That's the best he could do? I hope any enlisted soldier lucky enough to fall over a bag of US currency in either Iraq or Afghanistan uses his head and enjoys the money when he returns home. I once came across $267,000 dollars stashed in a footlocker and did the stupid thing. I turned it over to an officer, and it vanished.

i am in the army, and i have witnessed two fellow soldiers sent to prison. one of them was caught with child porn and only got 6 months, the other had sex with a 13 year old girl and all he got was 45 days in the local county jail! these two child molesters only got a combined 6 1/2 months and this guy might get 23 years! all he did was steal some cash, and they want to crucify him, but child molestation? that doesnt seem to be that bad of a crime according to the U.S. army.

Yet, of all the places on this vast planet, living among all the "typical greedy Americans" is the only place for you. How can you stand to go on living, knowing you're in violation of your conscience? MayI suggest a short rope and a tall tree?
