How much of my tax dollars was wasted on this effort. Call out the Army? "Hey Private! Kill any insurgents today?" Naw, just some frogs!"

Jeez, its just a frog! And don't give me that noise about how loud they are. I rather hear them than all the sirens and city noise anyday.

Where can you get some of these animals for pets?

If coqui can be eradicated from Oahu, they can be eradicated from the Big Island. As long as there are populations of coqui on any of the islands, they will easily be able to recolonize Oahu given the lax agricultural inspection standards within the state.

That's what you think, eh? Have you ever lived anywhere there was an infestation? Sirens and city noise don't blare non-stop, all night.

Anyway, if you get your way, you'll hear all three.

This is the reason why we need to ban the Super Ferry. Only Matson, Young Brothers and the airlines have the right to bring in invasive species.

If only some Micronesian would come up with a tasty recipe for Coqui, and a law passed protecting the frog, every frog would be stolen in a short time. Until then, just pray to Obama and maybe he'll fix it along with all the other divine miracles he's going to perform

Nope, pro bono volunteers and kid bounty hunters. Knowledge of the Coqui habitats and what they use to amplify their sound helps.

Can't help you there if the State keeps dropping the ball.

Damn you human fools! You haven't eradicated us! We're just keeping quiet while we rebuild our numbers. Soon there will be more of us than ever, and there won't be ANYTHING you can do about it!!!
Revenge will be ours!!! Hahahaahahaaaaaaaaaa!!!

I think what was done in Wahiawa was a great thing! Now if we can do the same for all areas of all islands. We need to get rid of a whole bunch of plants and trees too and some transplanted people.

Aloha to all the critics of eradication programs: Please, I implore you, before you judge any further, take a trip to an infested area and spend the night. Leilani Estates on the Big Island would work. Then try ti imagine what it would be like to own property there and not be able to sell it because of the noise.

You are absolutely correct - ALL Hilo and the surrounding areas have been invaded by these horrible creatures. For the record as a former resident of Hilo I witnessed first hand the coqui invasion that started with Wal Marts plants and moved out. As the artist Herb Kane once said Wal Mart should be responsible for cleaning up this mess. On another note I wish to think Rachel and all the other people for erradicating this obnoxious species in Wahiawa.

Salt, pepper, dust in flour and deep fry. Just the back legs, though - the rest of the frog no good. Takes about 50 frogs to make a decent meal - damn things so small.

What procedures will the Super Ferry use to keep the frog from hitch-hiking to Oahu?

There are parts of formerly quiet Big Island where it is unbelievably loud all through the entire night. You have to yell to be heard, and turn the T.V. to full volume to hear it.

The State should go after Wal Mart for this, though State and County agencies too, are responsible for sitting on their hands wile the problem exploded in Hawaii County. This pest means the end to peace and quiet.

It is truly a shame that the state did not act quickly to get rid of this pest on the Big Island, where it has ruined the peacefulness of the night.

Thankyou for your comments wich are spot on - this is one of MANY reasons we personally opposed the Stupid Ferry. People have no idea who have not endured the deafening noise first hand. This is one of MANY enviromental problems the ferry presents. Think about the spores and other material that would be brought on peoples tires from a weekend four wheeling. We need to follow New Zealands lead on this and other enviromental issues. Also for the record I would NEVER own a property infected with these pests and if my home was threatened I would take action immediately. Also Wal Mart should be held liable for this mess! I for one will not shop their for this and many other issues!
