I don't think there is enough information in the article to go after the parents quite yet. What if he had been to the doctor and was given medication that caused this? Until there is more information - don't point fingers.

I AM THE CHILD'S GRANDMOTHER AND IT IS HIGHLY UPSETTING TO READ THESE POSTS. STEVIE IS PRECIOUSE AND THERE IS NO NEGLIGENCE HERE. MY DAUGHTER AND SON IN LAW ARE AWESOME PARENTS! HOW CAN ANYONE SAY THAT CHRISTINE DID NOT TAKE BABY STEVIE TO DOCTOR.WHICH SHE DID, WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE THINKING OR BETTER YET, YOUR NOT THINKING. RIP, STEVIE WE ALL LOVE YOU. SIDS HAPPEND AND PEOPLE ARE BEST TO KNOW THAT IT CAN HAPPEN TO ANY BABY ANY TIME ANY WHERE. LEAVE THEM ALONE.

Sheila, you need to get a life. Do you scour the internet for people to throw false accusations at? Where in that article is it even mentioned that stephen hadn't been taken to the hospital? Both stevie and chrissy are amazing loving parents, and I think it's both petty and sad that you would leave such a callous (and unfounded)comment at this tragic and difficult time. The only thing "unbelievable" here is your audacity. I am honored to have been given the opprotunity to know them, and their beautiful children. Keep your miserable comments to yourself, Sheila, because nobody wants to hear it.

First, I would like to extend my condolences to Christine and Steven Sr. and their families for their loss.

I was lucky enough to meet Steven Jr. and his mother (Christine) with my sister the prior day of the lost.

My heart goes out to this family in their time of need.

This is a horrible time for all involved and should not to be criticized by people who have no idea what they are talking about.

God, have pity on her soul.....

You know, I agree that it is a terrible loss and I want to extend my condolences and Sheila's comment was hurtfull and it seems she didn't have all the facts. But that's censorship to delete someones post because of their opinion and you didn't like what they said. Freedom of speech and freedom of the press. This are our rights as United States citizens. Unfortunately, at times, it gives us the freedom of stupidity, but it is our right none the less.

Also i am in the Untied States Army i fight to give you those rights there buddy. i know all about that. So i dont want to hear it. are you in the military do you have any courage? didnt think so. i should teach you a little something about censorship when they blow off your finger but you cant yell out in pain because youll give your position away to the enemy. CENSOR THAT. as you continue to sleep in a non-war-torn country thanks to me.

First of all I want to thank you for your service.
2nd, who the hell gives you the right to treat me like a 2nd class citizen because I am not in the military. You think just because someone is not in the military, that they don't have any courage?I gave you my condolences and you treat me like a piece of garbage because I say we have rights. No wonder this country is going to hell because it's people like you that think you are better and above everybody else. Your not the only one that has protected this country. I have plenty of relatives and friends that have served and are serving and they would be appalled at your stupid comments. We've had the right to free speech long before you joined the military and we still have that free speech and are a free country not just because of you. Just because you lost a child doesn't give you the right either. I've lost a child too and didn't treat other people with disrespect and disdain. You are no better than me or any other person in this great country although it's obvious you think you are.

I have to agree with you. Sometimes I really hate my stance on it becuase it means I have to listen to a lot of b.s. but I guess I would have it no other way. Even if I disagree and dislike someone's words, I will stand up and say you have the right to say them, and I have the right to disagree.

After all, isn't that right the reason the miltary is fighting? Freedom. That includes speech.

freedom of speech is a good thing, freedom of ignorant people speaking before collecting their facts should be punishable. the woman who was removed was speaking ignorant to any of the facts thats why censorship could be a good thing. stupid people are like alcohol i tolerate them in moderation. and may i add that my comment was not an attack on you but a generalization that she had no business saying what she did. just because we have the right doesnt mean we HAVE to use it. sometimes it just doesnt concern u and u dont know the whole story, so an intelligent mind would just shut up, she chose not to. thats fine thats her "right" it was mikes "right" to have her removed. so no injustice here.

"2nd, who the hell gives you the right to treat me like a 2nd class citizen because I am not in the military."

Nobody ever said that your condolences were unappreciated, or that you were a "second class citizen" She simply stated that it takes a certain courage to join up and serve in the army...Do you have that courage? If you didn't serve then I'd guess not. I wouldn't claim to have it. The things that these soldiers have seen and been through...for all of us... Do you really put yourself in the same category? I don't. I HAVE NEVER LEFT THE COMFORT OF MY HOME, FAMILY OR LIFE TO DEFEND THE LIVES OF OTHERS, and if YOU haven't done so then you should keep your mouth shut about it. I know many people who have served, and I am humbled by them. When you decide that you love your country and its denizens so much that you are willing to fight and die for it, then YEAH, you are in a superior category and a far better person than I. CHRISTINE IS A HERO, and she has been struck with an additional tragedy. Hubris is a sin,and the kind of unnecessary pride that it takes to put yourself in the same ideal as Christine is ludacris. If you don't like that, then go and join the services. Otherwise, be quite and be grateful.

She may be a HERO but it doesn't put her on a pedistle. Her comments were very condescending and she did insinuate that I had no courage.
Her quote.
" are you in the military do you have any courage? didnt think so. i should teach you a little something about censorship."

She doesn't have to teach me anything. I know all about love of country and what a privilage it is to be in this country. Just because I Can't join the military, because of age and physical requirements, doesn't mean I don't respect it. I always thank those that are in the military for there service. She is the first person I know that's in the military or were in the military that have put themselves on "higher ground" (and don't say she didn't) and talked down to me because I wasn't serving. I respect them for that, knowing what they have been thru and they never bragged about it and told me that I better thank them. There are many in the service that protect this country, not just her, and I ALWAYS thank them. She insinuated by this comment that I had only to thank her for my being safe

"..as you continue to sleep in a non-war-torn country thanks to me."

Again, because I haven't served, according to you, I should keep my mouth shut. Excuse me!!! It's when people keep there mouths shut and cower down when talked down to that this country will no longer be the great country it is. No. I will not shut my mouth and I will continue to thank the military men and women for THAT RIGHT..

Look....the comment I made was that I reported Sheila to the Tribune. Sheila had made remarks without the facts....that is all.

She had hurt this family with her comments.

How did this become about everyone else and the love of our country?....Shame on you!

BTW...I reported her comments to the Tribune and it was the Tribune that removed her comments from here....nothing else....I did not "delete" her message.

Can we please remember that there is still a family hurting here?

Please have some respect.......

And all I said was, eventhough those comments were hurtfull and Sheila didn't seem to have all the facts, she has the right to speak. Then I was attacked. There have been worse remarks on these forums that what she said, as dumb as they were, and people don't report them. Why? Because of free speech. So how is it shame on me? Yes, this had gotten way off topic, but it wasn't because of me.
