Let me start out by stating that I have had my dog groomed by this business twice before, and I was generally happy with how she looked. Today was a different experience. I was running late for an appointment that I scheduled a week in advance, by about 20 minutes. I entered the shop, apologetic for the time lapse, but the owner was combative right off the bat. She told me since I missed my scheduled time, I would need to leave and come back 1 hour later to drop her off. The business was not visibly busy; there was one completed dog in sight and no one else waiting. She did have a logbook that appeared to have prior activity and she did say she had a busy day thus far. I asked if I could leave my dog and she could start her at her convenience, but she was adamant about us leaving and coming back, with a very short window of time being utilized for grooming. I explained that I had a car full of kids (4) and basically I would be driving home to drive right back. When I questioned this lack of flexibility, she stated that my dog barks and she cannot have dogs barking in her shop. (This is a dog groomer, not a library, I imagine barking does occur in the process). That said, our dog does not bark, even when in a crate circumstance, which she is exposed to daily and all night. This was perplexing to me, so I attempted to pursue her argument with additional questions, which in turn seemed to annoy her as well as her young employee, who then chimed in with a sarcastic retort. The issue here is customer service, which I feel is sorely lacking. It bears mentioning that Jenny has never been particularly welcoming or warm in our prior dealings. I do feel she was almost determined to not groom my dog and even when her Mother, who is also an employee, showed up during our exchange and tried to turn this encounter around, the owner seemed intent on being obstinate. Her Mother did ask me to leave the dog, but I was uncomfortable at this point, not wanting to leave my pet with someone who did not want to groom her. Being a skilled groomer is an asset but being able to work through all types of customer encounters is key to being a truly successful businessperson. I had recommended this business, based on her grooming skills to another friend. They utilized this business but we have since talked and they will not do so again. The old adage is true, bad press spreads much wider than good. I will make sure all of my pet loving friends and family know of the odd and rude encounter I had today. In today's economy, every dollar spent on extraneous things matters and people should think twice on giving business money that appears to not really desire to earn it.

Sorry you felt you had a bad experience. Four Paws Grooming has tried to create a stress free environment for our clients. We feel when a dog is here for an unreasonable amout of time they can become unnecessarly stressed. We do provide a unique environment with dog runs and doggie beds for each pet. We are a small family owned business and do not have the capability of housing a lot of dogs at one time as a daycare could. When you walked in 40 minutes late for your appointment we already had 5 dogs waiting to go home, 2 walked in right as you arrived, and 1 was coming in 30 mins. later. My next available time was at 4:30. Your poor pet would have had to sit and wait 3 1/2 hours before I could have started working on her. That is not fair to your pet or the clients who are expecting there dog to be done on time. We would not have been able to reach you, for you were going swimming at the local pool, if your dog became upset. We try to respect our neighbors businesses by not having dogs barking continuously. I did try to accomidate you later that day but at that point you were too angy. Sorry for your bad experience.

The review above by Kelly is extremely accurate. That is how you can expect to be treated if you come to this salon. You will nor receive friendly service with a smile, you will receive attitude, snottiness, and general rudeness. Your pet will not be well taken care of, either, because the owner of this salon is a greedy, arrogant, selfish b*tch who only cares about herself and how much money she can make. Lots of very angry people who had the misfortune of dealing with this groomer are leaving negative reviews everywhere, specifically Yahoo Local and Insider Pages. Check the reviews for Four Paws to see for yourself. This groomer is a nasty piece of work who should not be in business. She is NOT caring or trustworthy at all.
Horrible Service

I took my pet to Four Paws expecting friendly service and a well groomed dog. There was a young girl working there named Michelle and she was absolutly horrible, her attitude and demeanor were wreched. My dog was horribly groomed, nothing that we had discussed at all. I will never go back!!!!

I don't know about the employee you mentioned but the owner is even worse! Cannot groom at all and her people skills are terrible. She has no clue what she is doing at all. Her employees are terrible probably because SHE is terrible. REview this business on other sites and let people know how awful they are.

This grooming salon is still open, surprisingly, even after all of the complaints about bad business. This is yet another warning: do not give this awful place your business.

Myself and a few people I know have went to this salon, but after being treated rudely and/or never getting what we want on our dogs, have decided to go elsewhere. I cannot stress enough how unsatisfactory my experience was here. One of my friends took her dog in, and the groomer couldn't even finish her dog, that had never happened before. The groomer here is not a nice person to do business with, and her "skills" are nothing to write home about.

I use a service called Doggie Style. They are wonderful and a good value. Best of all they come to your home. They have a small mobile home outfitted with all the grooming stuff. I have 3 dogs and see her once a month. She is great with the dogs and always on time. Much better than running around and dealing with rudeness

I COMPLETELY agree with what nadaly said. She has been known to lie and connive her way through everything. She is very dishonest and does not care who she badmouths in an attempt to gain business for herself. She knows her skills are not good enough and so she has to use underhanded ways to get business. She's a complete LOSER who cares NOTHING about the animals.

I COMPLETELY agree with nadaly, she is a deceitful and conniving piece of scum who will do anything to get business, even if it means badmouthing honest and hardworking groomers who she feels are her competition. She knows she is not talented enough, so she resorts to underhanded sneakery to try and gain business for herself. She does not care about your animal, she only wants your money.

My granddogs used to go to another groomer where Jen used to work. She left and started her own business and I have noticed a lot of her customers that had gone to the prior place follow Jen to her own place. I can't say enough about Jen and her willingness to work with animals. Her love and caring are foremost. I think the bad reviews are instead written by her former employers who have lost a huge chunk of their business and rightly so.

Also noted that all the negative comments were from Griffin, IN which is no where near Schaumburg, IL.

I love Four Paws and Jenny - this sounds like a bashing for no reason. Grow up. You sound like you're throwing a temper tantrum like your children would. You were late and didn't make your appointment. Deal with it. Other people's time IS MORE VALUABLE THAN YOURS. If you can't be respectful of that, then don't make an appointment.

Four Paws is an excellent grooming salon and the dogs are happy and well cared for. The staff is always very pleasant and friendly.

Hmm....that's funny, and all the postive comments (Including the one from Four Paws) were all from OAKBROOK IL.

Jenny writing positive comments about herself ONCE AGAIN!!!!

And, to the person who wrote that all the bad comments must be from her former employer....maybe the rest are, but I have no association with them. In fact, I hold Yuppie Puppie in lowest regard with Four Paws. They are the shop that hired the bad groomer (Jenny) to begin with, so why would I go back there? They obviously don't know how to hire good people. I go somewhere completely different and am very happy with the work they do. I think it's funny that you think the bad comments said about Jenny must only come from that place. She has poor grooming skills, no matter what issues that other shop had with her. You think everyone must admire what she does? There are bad reviews about her place all over the web, try reading some of them.

And I have NO IDEA why my comments say they come from Griffith, IN. I am nowhere near there.

Interesting how bad mouthing this business seems to be some one's mission. My experience was nothing like Kelly's. I walked in off the street for a nail clipping and was treated with respect and received immediate service. It is obvious from Kelly's comments that she expected preferential treatment from this business although she admits to being late for the appointment. If Kelly went to her hair stylist, dentist or doctor 20 minutes late, she would have been tuned away and asked to reschedule her appointment time. I am saddened to see a smear campaign for a shop that I am happy to take my puppy to.
