The Greenwich school board unanimously elected Sidney Freund, a superintendent for 26 years, as the next town schools chief at an emergency meeting Thursday morning.

Why in this economy with the budget constraints we have - why are we paying a 'travel allowance' for the newly hired superintendent? It is quoted 'board members cited his close proximity to town'- so why the allowance?
We would think with a salary of $230K our new superindent could afford the gas to get to work. Town government needs to cut these silly perks, it's an insult to other town employee' and to the taxpayer.

a guess would be to pay for his car insurance and/or lease agreement.
as a "lifetime town resident", I'm sure you realize that, in Greenwich, 230K is nothing, there are people living in this town that make that much in one month.
