A great idea that sets a good example, but I'm sure the Obama bashers will post some goofy nonsense about this.

I don't particularily like him and when I read the caption I thought...with the state of the economy they are worried about planting a freakin'(flower) garden?!?! But then when I read about it, I thought it was a good thing. Maybe save the tax payers a few bucks by growing their own.

Hmm, heads rolling -- er -- popping up -- for consumption in the garden of evil.

Google the film "Motel Hell".

Pretty much says it all.

Is this the best use of your staff in Washington, to produce pap articles like this in your daily Obama gush? But nary a word about his incompetence in leadership that has resulted in the largest federal deficit in history; his inability to speak without reading words someone else has written; his inability to select staff members who actually pay their taxes. What's next? A daily story on Obama's luncheon menu?

This is fooloshness. Who is going to tend the garden, some highly paid civil servant? That's no way to support thriftiness.

One silly question:

WHO IS GOING TO TEND THIS GARDEN? CERTAINLY WON'T BE MICHELLE OR THE CHILDREN! PARK DISTRICT PERSONNEL NOW WILL TEND THIS GARDEN.

So now farmers are also bad for the economy - we should all grow our own veggies?

GREAT MOVE OBAMA - KILL OFF THE FARMERS AT OUR EXPENSE!

FOR THOSE THAT LIVE IN CITIES, I HAVE SOME LAND THAT I CAN RENT TO YOU TO START YOUR GARDENS - THE PRICE IS $20 A SQUARE FOOT! ANY TAKERS?

IDIOTS ALL!

Yes, I suppose growing turnips on the White House lawn is the best way to illustrate to the world that we Americans are starving to death.

'Scuse me, GRRRRRR -

It's ham hocks, I believe.

I'm so stuck like Chuck over this thing. Maybe I'll get over it if Buckingham Palace decides to let sheep graze on their front lawn.

Maybe I should shut my mouth before someone on Pennsylvania Ave. gets yet Another bright idea.

I'm betting they will have the little girls out there learning how to tend a garden. It's what we would do in my family.

OK, but I tried that when I lived in DC and I found that nothing attracks hordes of rats like nice plump tomatoes and melons. Not that the rats shouldn't eat too, but maybe it's better to just hit a farmers' market.

Two years ago I planted a small vegetable garden. Last year I got lazy, the garden overgrew with weeds. This early Spring I have been wavering. Can I say this: the Obama's inspire me. Its almost time to get the soil turned over out back, get the seeds in the ground.
Happy gardening

wow, you are really stupid aren't you? Growing fresh veggies isn't going to put any farmers out of business - most peole won't preserve. It will save on fuel consumption - no tracking those veggies across the country.
