I notice the only thing he is sorry for is the fact that he lost his girlfriend---and he didn't mean to hurt anything. The last time I looked, crushing animals isn't the way to get them to like you. Too bad those cats knew what a piece of pond scum this guy is before she did----always trust an animals instincts. I hope they give him the maximum penalty allowed by law, although that is hardly anything. Karma is a wonderful thing tho----he will get what he deserves eventually.

With all the problems in this country THIS crap is what we read and “comment” about? This is why Newsday is such a rag.
Let’s see…
46 million Americans without health care
The economy in the tank, we are on the verge of a recession.
The US is stuck in a lost war.
Rising unemployment, crashing stock market
Rising foreclosures and property taxes coupled with stagnant wages.
Our schools are a mess.
Not enough police on the street
Yet we care about a stupid dead cat? You people need to wake up and get a life.
It’s a cat, get over it. Let’s worry about something important.

I heard that girl's no angel, but her cats don't deserve to be crushed. Even if they do sit on your head and stare at you while you sleep.

In China, everyone eats cat. You better believe that if Maddeline, Jynx, or Beanz were born in Beijing, they would be part of dinner for someone's family. Eating cats is fine with me, except I can obtain better grade meat. Many Americans are fat and obese because they play with cats all day and never get exercise like they could get if they owned a dog. Cats are not children. Maybe the man was sexually frustrated...

To all of the people complaining about why this story is getting so much attention rather than American soldiers in Iraq, taxes, health care, homeless, job security, etc. Here's a bright idea: Find a story that talks about one or more of these issues and comment there.
This is about some heartless f**k who performed an act of vicious cruelty on innocent animals. It has NOTHING to do with anything else! If that bothers you, READ A DIFFERENT STORY AND QUIT YOUR BIT**IN!!
And they are not "just cats". It's not like replacing a flat tire or a broken watch. Housepets are just as much a member of the family as anyone else. So they are not more important than humans, they are just as important.

All you people are quick to judge without hearing all the facts. Don't believe everything you see and hear in the media. Dave has pets of his own and would never do anything to intentionally hurt any animals. The man pushed in a mattress and unfortunately 2 cats were caught in between. I'm not going to say he wasn't negligent, but no way in hell is Dave the cat-killing monster everyone seems to think he is. This is coming from someone who knows Dave for 15 yrs. I just spoke with him and got the real story...not the one you are going to see on News 12 or any other newspaper. I understand people are shocked and upset by what seems to be a vicious act of animal cruelty, but its just not like that. Dave feels horrible about what happened and his life is now in shambles as he awaits trial. Put yourself in his shoes...

Some people like Dogs while others choose Cats as their pets. I personally like Fish. That doesnt make any of us wrong though.

That also doesn't justify the killing of any one of them.

You never met MY dog!

Laziest thing to ever walk the earth.

Her idea of exercise is running towards the food dish or circling her blanket about a dozen times before finally laying down. lol

My three year old son gives me all the exercise I need, believe me!

Pushing a mattress in doesn't account for that many broken bones and a punctured lung, I am a vet tech and these injuries are consistent with blunt force trauma. My problem is that he is still only thinking about himself, losing his girlfriend-----absolutely no mention of the cats loss of life, the other cats injuries,or how she feels losing her pet. Remember, Dahmer and others started with small animals......there is a special place in hell for this "man"
