Hey Page the town listed is not neccesarly where you live. And No Sayville isnt better than Long Beach or even where I was born Rockville Centre. Its freaking Sick every other day someone is getting stabed, shot major drug dealers getting arrested. Its out of control. You might be her next door neihbor thats very sad. Im sorry for your loss but Sayvile is and has been building its name as White Trash central. Im sorry thats how it is but it is. I am also sorry that something sounds fishy about this whole thing. No one looked in the basement??? Was she sickly? Did you see the house with the big cross on the lawn playing the stations of the cross on a stereo???
I even think Valley stream might have the upper hand on sayville here...
good luck paige get out of Sayville beofre you cant.

Without trying to disrespect Ms.Gigante by making any jokes, I will advise you to do the following:

eat your spinach. a lot of fruit, irrigate your body with fluids and eat foods with a lot of fiber. And NEVER pass up an opportunity to take care of business when the biological clock calls you.

Apologies to the friends and family of Ms.Gigante, if one is needed. We need to laugh sometimes to ease the pain.

We knew her, she was a nice lady, from a nice family.

Shame for her kids, may she rest in peace.

Her name/face seem familier from a long ago job, relation to Joe Gigante? Apprently they were no longer married if so. Just curious. In either case this is so sad if in fact it really was suicide. I guess we may never really know... God Bless her family.
Yes, she was married to Joe Gigante...and he worked for Cremosa. Apparantly they weren't married anymore...which in itself is perplexing given the relationship they had when I knew them

Cremosa Cheese thats where I knew Joe Gigante.... then he was married to Joia. I met her way back when. Even though its been so long ago she seemed to be a real nice person.
I wonder the people who knew her more recently, did she really seem to be that troubled? To actually do this to herself? It really seems very strange.Very curious.
Knowing her was a pleasure. NO other way to explain it. Also to the girls that were talking about her perfume, you brought back memories. Yes, she was always so put together and smelled so good. A woman to be looked up to, a woman to model yourself after.
She was beautiful. Thanks for the memory, may all your wonderful memories live on and keep you well.

Hello, to all that knew her personally. After the last few posts I have left. I was just thinking about when I knew her, and the fact that when I left Cremosa to have my daughter she was just about the age I am now. My world is much like what I thought hers was like. I have a good stable marriage and 2 wonderful children. I try to keep myself healthy and fit and when I get dressed for the day it is with the utmost care. I like everyone have my days of feeling down, or just yucky. I would say that when Joia was in her 30's she was vibrant...If anyone can explain the last years of her life, what changed, why did they split? What could have led to such despair? I am really haunted by the thought this could be anyone who thinks that they are living on top of the world. I know it is an everyday work in progress to be the best person possible. I guess in retrospect, the old adage," the Grass is not always greener on the other side"...definitly means alot in this story. You never know the story that lies underneath the surface. Please help me to understand what went wrong. Thanks...

They are wrong, she was married to his cousin. I know for a fact, I worked for him for 6 years. I know John's son Joe too. He called Joe Gigante Joia's husband Uncle, but they were cousins.

No you don't. So with that, I will learn a lesson. Like I think I mentioned in another one of my post's....
I guess you are never too old to learn something. And also I believe that God intends for a message to be sent to everyone from everything that happens. Maybe this is something I need to learn from and you just need to look beyond the surface to find out what the message is. I guess the message will be different for everyone.
Take care

That's not something to joke about. I knew her family, and you joking about it is disrespectful. If you were in a situation like that you wouldn't want people making fun of a situation like that! All of you have some respect!

This case boggles the mind. Never have I seen so closemouthed, unresponsive local police info on a case to the press. Victim was found " in a confined space" behind some furniture in her basement, but police see no reason to suspect foul play! After an autopsy, for which absolutelly no details are provided, including the cause of death, the case seems to be quickly closed. Police even refuse to say if the house was searched after victim's dissapearance. This case stinks like the Jean Benet police fiasco.Where is the reporting (digging for tthe facts) on the part of Newsday?

Maybe it is simply that she wanted to end her life here on earth and do it very privately. Maybe she knew what she was doing was very shameful for her and the family....no one is going to know what she was thinking when this happened. I hope for the family they have the answers they need as to why she left this earth.

I think its time to stop being so curious. The public doesnt have all the facts and we shouldnt. It is a private matter and really no ones business. Do you honestly think her family would not pursue it if they thought she may have been harmed by someone other than herself. She had a wonderful immediate and extended family and friends that cared very deeply for her. All of whom are so sad that they didnt realize what was happening to Joia. Of course, its no ones fault but the guilt is huge. Have some respect for her loved ones while they grieve and try to heal.

Its only human nature to ask why something so undeniably tragic can happen to to such a beautiful, vibrant, caring woman such as my beloved cousin Joia. She would light up a room when she came in. Joia always made you feel welcome and loved whenever you would see her. So of course, when you read about something like this happening to a such a person, you ask why.
But sometimes people cross that line of interest. So I say to all you armchair sleuths and amatuer comedians, RESPECT her memory! Do it as if she were YOUR own friend, cousin, aunt, sister, mother or daughter. Because she was all these things and more to those who loved her and who were privileged to know her in her short 49 years. You are not helping anyone with your speculations least of all a grieving family.

TO all her family and friends
I hope that I havn't written anything that has offended any of you...and I agree with all of you. I did know her too and even though I havn't seen her or talked to her in 12 years...my last contact with her was 6 years ago through a christmas card....I am devastated also. I wish you all the peace and love of God to get you through this tragic event which does affect all of you.
I will keep on reading this post site from time to time...and I hope that those who are insensitive give up their quest, and realize what you have stated this was someones mom, daughter, sister, friend, cousin and someone everyone who knew her were blessed to know her, and everyone will miss.
God Rest her soul.
