Don't be mad because you have no talent at anything. Just like you said kids will be kids be we have to adults and handle our kids. These problems should be handled at home not by our government.

"Somebody is going to die tomorrow" is a statement not a threat. Of course somebody is going to die today, tomorrow and the next day. It happens everyday. Maybe she forgot to add the question mark on the end "Somebody is going to die tomorrow?" Reply "Probably that's life!"

We cant. We are working 2 jobs so that we can have a house for us and our children to live in.
You can't parent because you have to work two jobs to pay your bills? You maybe sound like someone who shouldn't have had kids if you had to work so much. This is part of the problem with kids today. No parenting and guidance because everyone is working. This is not an excuse to not parent.

This is over-reaction. To arrect a kid for her freedom of speech. To say "kill someonne" is not a crime for a child last time I looked. Before they arrest a kid maybe they should investigate, and see if she really is dangerous. Just to arrest a kid is taking the PC easy way out with no thought about the future of the child. Do all of our officials get their 'Jolly's" on bullying a young child? Does I help their political future? Is it about liability? IMO the officials are lazy and took the easy way out...

seriously disturbing.

I mean really .. what the heck is going on with kids and schools today? Sending your kid to public school today is like sending them to the slaughterhouse.

Years ago when kids said, "I'm going to kill you." it was a figure of speech. Nowadays kids really mean it and do it. Where the h-e-l-l have you been in the last decade? Hope you are not a parent.

Come on - now a days a child should at least know that if they text something like that they will get in trouble....whether or not it is ridiculous for a child to get in trouble for this is another debate - but teenagers are old enough to know that in todays day and age a simple comment like this will get you in serious trouble - her mistake was not being smart enough to realize that

Meds making you panic? My kids do go to these schools. Nothing to worry about here. Try relaxing and teaching your child to take care of themselves then you won't need to be so self absorbed and paranoid.

If this occurred in a school district with a significant population of minority students, the tone of these comments would be different. The entire town would be disparaged as well, and it would likely be front page news.

12 Year olds shouldn't have cell phones. And if they do it should be one of those ones that only calls home and 911.

Do we arrest every kid who says they will "kill you"? Answer that question... Yes I am a Parent, and I have been through all of that stuff and settled it with no arrests. Police were involved, but as parents we concluded the situation.

The trouble is that our society has become so "tolerant" of bad behavour that we allow disturbed individuals to walk free amoung us. Many of these people present a physical threat at any given moment. Those that do not present a physical threat certainly diminish the quality of life for the rest of us. It is time to draw a tighter, firmer line in the sand. If you exhibit a mental disorder you must be treated for it. The treatments are no longer archaic, frightening, surgery and shock treatments. For the most part they require talk therapy and possibly treating chemical imbalances of the brain. Criminalizing mental illness is not the solution. Mandatory treatment is the solution.
parents are the one's turning their kids into wimps. kids today don't need a time-out, some of them deserve to get a good spanking.

when i went to school a few years back, we never had counselors/therapists etc, we used to talk to our FRIENDS about our problems.
kids today need to deal with things on their own, if they don't make the football, too bad, if they can't play sports or are not good at it then they don't play, but today everyone is on a team because it's not nice to leave someone out. TOO BAD....
kids don't need drugs, they need to be told "NO" every once in a while and stop being so spoiled.

Where are all the parents who posted here yesterday saying "kids will be kids"? who do you like this kid now?

The girl did something stupid and everyone has overreacted. There never was any serious threat. Kids make mistakes.

on the context of how it is said. If I'm having a dirt bomb fight with my friend and he gets a good shot to my head and I yell out .. "I'm going to kill you." that obviously is not meant to be literal. But if a text message is sent or a diary found stating that something will happen on a particular day to a particular group (or person), which is life threatening .. Yes .. that should be taken seriously and the proper person(s) arrested.

So I guess you would of blew off the Connetquot threat as "kids will be kids"? I mean come on .. seriously ??!!
Could not

In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools. We said OK.

Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school... the Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK.~~~~Note: Actually it was Dr. Spock's grandson who committed suicide. See: www.snopes.com/medical/doctor/drspock.htm - Thank you SNJP!~~~~~

Then someone said teachers and principals better not discipline our children when they misbehave. The school administrators said no faculty member in this school better touch a student when they misbehave because we don't want any bad publicity, and we surely don't want to be sued (there's a big difference between disciplining, touching, beating, smacking, humiliating, kicking, etc.). And we said OK.

Then someone said, let's let our daughters have abortions if they want, and they won't even have to tell their parents. And we said OK.

Then some wise school board member said, since boys will be boys and they're going to do it anyway, let's give our sons all the condoms they want so they can have all the fun they desire, and we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school. And we said OK.

Then some of our top elected officials said it doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs. Agreeing with them, we said it doesn't matter to me what anyone, including the President, does in private as long as I have a job and the economy is good.

Then someone said let's print magazines with pictures of nude women and call it wholesome, down-to-earth appreciation for the beauty of the female body. And we said OK.

And then someone else took that appreciation a step further and published pictures of nude children and then further again by making them available on the Internet. And we said OK, they're entitled to free speech.

Then the entertainment industry said, let's make TV shows and movies that promote profanity, violence, and illicit sex. Let's record music that encourages rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes. And we said it's just entertainment, it has no adverse effect, nobody takes it seriously anyway, so go right ahead.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out.I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.

Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing?
