Now this is why we elect public officials!! To protect us from the evil restaurant owner who fails to post the price of the special!! This is one legislator with too much time on her hands focusing on all the wrong things. What a putz.

local legislators do 'local' things. most local legislators are there for the paycheck. NYS is a wee bit more than local and all our assemblypersons and senators have almost no impact. Only the Big 3 run the candy store.

The Specials issue is a good one. Many times there was something on the menu spit out by the waiter and you are embarassed to ask "how much".

The rest of the menu has prices, why not the Specials.

There is a restaurant here and there that doesn't have a price on the menu because of some snobbishness. I have often gone into a restaurant with a well heeled friend who tells the owner to bring out what he has. That is supposed to be cool.

I have absolutely no problem with asking prices if they're not listed. Why would you? Do you go into Best Buy and say, "gimme that 58" TV", without knowing the price? As far as the couple with the $300 bill because they were too embarrassed to ask.....too bad, they deserved it. Stick to MickeyDs or stay home.

If you order enough food and drinks to run up a $300 bill and then you are shocked when it comes time to pay, you must be a moron. "Special" doesn't mean "free." Ask the price-very simple. You can't legislate common sense.
