See NOW this is what you call a waste of oxygen. Are you serious leave the kid alone HELL NO. This is even more assanine then the crash on Woodside. I thank the lord no one was hurt in this. Drinking all day long, then driving your car into the bay. You walk away without a scratch. Then they release you without any bail. What can we do to make him realize he was the biggest moron on earth. Wait where did he get beer all day long? Isn't it a law now that who ever gave it to him or sold it to him for that matter should be arrested too.

SCPD should have thrown him back in the bay, definitely not a keeper. I guess he gets to keep his job though, this was just a prerequisite for the position. Never saw a dockmaster that wasn't drinking on the job.

Sad but true.
At least this one didn't hit another car & kill an innocent person.
(or his own passenger)

I think Reckless Endangerment would be a good charge in there was in fact swimmers or others right there. There must be a risk of serious injury for the misdemeanor or grave risk of death for the felony.
There was probably nobody exposed to such risks at the time, but in Suffolk there is no plea bargaining if there's an accident like this one. The 20 yr old is screwed.
Why is there no plea bargaing?

<quoted text> Youre absolutely correct on that, I have wisely avoided becoming an alcoholic by only drinking all night long

Suffolk County has the highest auto fatality rate in NYS. At one time the numbers broke 300 yearly. Now it's down to 180 or so. Many deaths resulted from drugged or drunk drivers. The reduction has been attributed towards a heightened awareness of DWI arrests and seatbelt useage.

The DA has policies regarding plea bargaining. Any DWI history, a B.A.C. of .16 or above, or accident will preclude a reduced plea.

Thanks again for being a gentleman.

Agree, especially since he's under age!
Hopefully his car is ruined & he'll have trouble finding another.

For those of you that always get on Mastic and Shirley, it was obvious this kid, from high end Sayville, must be a former Mastic-Shirley resident. Goes to show, there are morons everywhere you look on LI. That place should be leveled.
