He was such an hero, to take it all away. We miss him so, That you should know, And we honor him this day. He was an hero, to take that shot, to leave us all behind. God do we wish we could take it back, And now he's on our minds. Michael was an hero, to leave us feeling like this, Our minds are rubber, our joints don't work, Our tears fall into abyss. He was an hero, to take that shot, In life it wasn't his task, He shouldn't have had to go that way, before five decades'd past. Now he sits there in my heart, this hero of mine, Always there to make me smile, Make me feel just fine. He had courage, that man did, courage in his heart. To take that shot, To end his pain, To tear us all apart. But in the end, he died in courage. Lacking, nevermore, He died a hero, Michael did, And we'll love him forevermore. We love you like a brother. We miss you so much. We will always love you, man. Rest In Peace Mike. ~Lila

Innocent mentally ill? You dont realize the truth on this guy is not going to be published. As far as murdered, your wrong. If anyone is to be held responsible its the Morales family. As far as the test requirements, its not the written part thats difficult to pass. Its the rainbow part of the test thats difficult to pass.
You also fail to comprehend this officer was on the force for 21 years and received 27 commendations. He made a decision. If he didnt, the outcome could of been worse. As far as Kelly and Bloomberg, its obvious they are non supportive of city workers.
Its time for city workers to just stare up into the clouds when a decision needs to be made.

Speak for your self. I dont hold Kelly and Bloomburg responsible for what Pigott did to himself.
Your right about one thing though we do need a grand jury and attorney general investigation into the events and cause leading up to the death of a innocent mentally ill person who was murdered by the police force on the scene.
I commend Kelly and Bloomburg for doing the right thing and getting rid of the reckless and dangerous police officers who are killing innocent civilians they are suppose to be protecting.
One last point perhaps it is time that NYC raises the testing requirements for their officers. It is well known throughout New york state that almost anyone can pass the city test to become a police officer, frankly its a joke.

What would have been worse? a crazy naked man with a florescant light bulb making a scene on a fire escape?
he probably would have fallen on his own anyway. don't the police have a method for say, a "jumper"? like a trampoline or something along that nature? couldn't the fire department help with a device to catch a falling body? or would that require patience, and cross departmental co-operation? how about letting the crazy coot rant for 1/2 hr. and then tempt the sucker down with a cookie? in a rush? look what you get- a dead man and a suicide cop. nice work all around.

I agree 100% with you. Unfortunately it didn't end this way.
As a taxpayer, I am appalled as to the handling of Lt. Pigott. He had no support, all for the sake of appeasing the neighborhood. I understand action needed to be taken for the sake of re election, but they left this officer in the cold...and in the dark as far as "whats going to happen to me,and my future with the PD. Are they going to demote me, embarrass me and let Kuben press for me to answer criminal charges". Why is no one talking to me? I havent heard from te high command? I'm in alot of trouble! and no one is calling or helping me. This needs an answer now!
The commissioner and the Mayor went to lunch.....
