Village residents will be so busy picking out the pieces of asphalt on Riveria Drive, we'll never see the 15 foot tsunami coming at us from the next big nor'easter. At least it will end quickly.

Who has time to pick up pieces of asphalt? I'm too busy trying to get in and out of my flood ravaged street. Maybe they could clean the crap out of the storm drains.

That's the DPW or The Highway Dep. Go to Gary or his nephew hopefully they will do some thing but I would not count on it.
The only thing that Gary and his family does is take care of themselves.
Look how long it took them to clean up his boatyard and repair his building.
Gary's cousin or DHS was down there working like crazy to get it done.Yet we still have bad roads and storm drains that need work and people that can;t get back into their houses.
This man has to go in March and anybody who is involved with them,or this village will never work.

How can you even see riviera with all of the POA crap from the marinas covering it? Someone is chewing on rocks from the 'engineered' washington beach fix from way back....tools! P.S. tsunamis are caused by underwater earthquakes, not storms

More like Riviera is covered by all the garbage that the village still has NOT cleaned up from Sandy. I must commend them....if there was an award for procrastination & laziness, they'd get it. Not sure what they're waiting for w the clean - up....the next hurricane so they can save us tax $$$ & do it all at once.
Yes, tsunamis are created by underwater earthquakes. The East Coast has just as dangerous fault lines as California although they are not currently as active.

the village has said repeatedly that "they are done with cleaning up after the storm!"
So, how is the village better then the TOB? TOB would have had us all cleaned by now. I don't care if you like the TOB or not, they always did a great job of cleaning the roads, removing the snow and keeping the sides of the roads mowed. They also pumped the drains every year.
The village only cleared about 70% of the trash from the storm, gave Gary's family a TON of money to do it, and refuses to clean any more. How are they "better" then the TOB????? The facts are there for all of us to see. The village isn't better then the TOB and in most instances, they are worse.

Gary wants to keep the old inlet open so he can get bigger boats in his place.

" A Tsunami is a series of water waves caused by the displacement of a large volume of a body of water, typically an ocean or a large lake."
A low pressure system like we saw with Sandy is capable of generating these "waves" or "surges". Thus we can have a "tsunami". Since there is no more Fire Island to protect Mastic Beach, we will get the full force of the next nor'easter, which is fully capable of generating a tsunami type surge.
You may now all resume posting about the cruise ships Gary is going to bring in the new inlet and dock at his 5 story boatel.Carry on.

I doubt he wants cruse ships, but he really does want marina 5 to be his. No lie. If he has his way, he will be the sole owner of the only marina in town. Vote him out and lets start making MB better.

No, but charter boats would bring in money for Gary with the inlet open and made bigger.

Why does EVERY forum ultimately turn to the same bunch of idiots hijacking it to spew crap about this "Gary" guy and/or slam on Mastic/Shirley?. Dont you have anything better to do than just sitting there slamming on the world? For you own sakes, make a news years resolution that you're not going to be such trolls. Seriously. Leave the blogs and forums alone or start your very own blog and keep your nastiness out of here please.

Why? Is topix too "highbrow" of the rest of us?
If we didn't, the waterfront would have been zoned commercial by now, the trustees would have pushed through 4 year term limits, Gary would have a cell tower, and a whole lot of money would have been spent on a bunch of buildings that we cant afford. All while the budget grew from 500,000 dollars to 4.2 million dollars in less then 2 years. So yeah, I hope people keep it up until we get some real leaders in our NEW GOVERNMENT!

Why not just keep to the subject. If the subject is "Washovers, floods, etc..." then how about we stick to the subject rather than using it as a personal tool to rant about whatever you want and derail the purpose of the topic in the first place? How about we keep the mad rantings and general nastiness to forums that warrant that or perhaps serve that purpose? Does a "whashover" topic really need to be hearing from people that have nothing better to do with their time than comment on anything that comes up because it's the only thing going on in their lives? Seriously, it's as if you all have this weird fixation on being as inflammatory, self serving or off-topic as you can be.

Good luck with that! If you drove around Most of the village, you would'nt even know we had sandy here except for the broken tree stumps. We've had two storms since then that have serverly flooded the lowest lying areas over a period of two months, causing continual damage, bringing in more debris and hampering clean up. Some areas have stayed flooded that normally do not . The vast majority drain pretty well considering the changes to the barrier island. The village did a commendable job cleaning up, and the community came together to help the hardest hit. There are still lots of individuals who have big problems to solve and they are. And then there are the ones that want to blame their problems on someone else. The Village has'nt stopped cleaning up, but the window to throw out storm debris from your own property has closed and it will be up to people to remove the debris themselves.Thats what I am seeing.

This has to be a employee of the village as they write I know even they dont believe it . How sad that time is wasted on a group of people entrusted with the future . Home values are down the builders stay away because of the massive cost in permits the licenses which are on top od a suffolk and such restrictions but call it a emercency and that mean with out disclosure ,proper bonding and insurance they give out no bid contracts. You got to be kidding coming on here and acting as if someone did any good - The can did not get kicked down the road now the village ressidents are now pushing back and about timefor what was a pissing match born out of revenge robbed the people of years going backwards . They should all be ashamed of themselves for thier acts - From the dump Gary marina all those years and the place is a shit hole and so unsuccessful as a business man trying to use this to make a payday screw them all. Karma's a bitch and maybe the payback is that at the end they will remain loser's also with the toothless wonders that also wanted a free rides instead of being a sound businessmen. They have not accomplished nothing all those years why would anyone vote these flunkies in? Get real and post something that resembles the truth
