Whaaaaat, you mean Above All Fence isn't opening in Sayville???(Could that guy've found a bigger sign to hang on the fence? Some ppl. have no class, does anyone else think it was tacky to hang that 'billboard' on the fence across from Vanderbilt? Oh, & yeah, he's got a shared billboard on the trestle, as well. Stop me now, I want to address the 'Sports Complex' query not my fence sign pet peeve!)

To hear Terry Cullen (the man behind this Skate Park) talk about it (and I have a few times) this Park is destined to be the best thing ever for Sayville & the kids.
HOWEVER, it's all about $$, a kid just won't be able to go the the new Complex and shoot hoops, skate, hang out whatever...
No, they'll have to pay to get in, be on & with a 'team' for most of the activities and you're right, the skate park is not on phase 1.
This is not a YMCA or open gym-type of facility, this is a for profit endeavour and I would not be at all suprised to see the kids using the Complex's steps, sidewalks, grounds, etc. for their own 'free' use (skateboards, skates, bikes, etc.) and can even envision this 'Haven for Kid's Sports' having a guard on duty to keep the kids from enjoying themselves for free!

Terry's idea was born from a place he & his kids go to & enjoy when they visit out of state family members, where I sincerely doubt the entrance fee was very pricey, if there was a fee at all.
You can bet the entrance fee for the Sports Complex is going to be steep, this is Sayville after all....which is curious because the guy's from Bayport ...

Not for nothing...maybe if Vanderbilt didnt bash Above All every chance he gets, maybe Above All wouldnt have taken the golden opportunity. I have heard the bash with my own ears when I got estimates from both..and all I can say is that it was a turn off to Vanderbilt.

why didnt Vanderbilt get the contract for the sports complex??? Maybe he bashed that day, too....

Theres plenty to go around, you dont have to drag another throught the mud to get the job..in fact, it worked just the opposite. I must add that Above All did a great job, and my fence is gorgeous...

Is this just me being cranky, or is this what the people who wanted this "skate park" were expecting?

Try living a few blocks away from that monstrosity. It is a HORROR!!!! I seem to remember a few years back after the rash of fires in this town, they made a point that anything built or rebuilt was to be built to match the existing architectural style of the other older buildings in town. OBVIOUSLY, who ever built that sports complex must have had to pay someone off. Either that or it's gotten to the point that no body cares. As for the trees..I understand the lot they were building on, But WHY was in necessary to remove the trees on the inbankment by the tressle? I just pray the plant fast growing arborvities in front of that mess as soon as they can.
It always looked run down in that area, but it actually looked better than it does now. Looks like the industrial area in Amityville...

Sayville kids will be lucky to get in the door!
I heard that outside teams were already booking the place and that there was very little dates left.
Can anyone say if this is true?

This project is for the kids. They deserve a safe place to play after school and on weekends etc... The "not for profit" organization that is on site 24/7 will be taking donations. 100% of the money will go to kids programs and scholarship for the needy. We could use some adult coach's 'trainers and teacher's to run these programs. So stop bashing the place and get on board. Call me 'the number is on the biulding. Thanks to all who have helped so far.
