If you vote no and the hospital closes, anyone with life threatening ailments will die for sure. Use some common sense and vote yes!!! The life you save could be yours!!!!

If you go to the ER and actually NEED to be seen, you will NOT wait until you are dead. I have never seen anyone die due to waiting at the ER in Sayre. I have seen people who get angry because they have to wait. But there is this thing called triage. If you come in and have the sniffles and someone comes in because they are having a heart attack, guess who gets seen first? I have seen many many lives saved. If I were to have a heart attack or a stroke or a trauma of some sort, I would certainly hope my local hospital would be open and able to fly me to the city ASAP. In those EMERGENCY situations every second counts. By the time you get to elk city you could be dead.

We are not in Vernon. We are in Sayre. Tell me of one case in Sayre where someone has died waiting to be treated for an emergency. Sure there are times when non-emergent patients have to wait 3 or 4 hours but that is rare. The only time I have ever seen that occur is when there is a trauma or a heart attack or a stroke or someone that needs to be intubated because they WILL DIE without immediate treatment. That is what an ER is for. So if you come in with a cold or the flu or a sprained ankle or a stomach ache or a stubbed toe then yes you might have to wait. Vote yes. We NEED the hospital.

Sayre hospital is not a county hospital. It follows the exact same regulations as any other hospital in the United States. No hospital can turn an emergency patient away. That is federal law. Now they can refer a non-emergent patient to their physician or a clinic if it is non-emergent. Please get your facts straight before you post them.
here are the facts they ONLY hav to to stabilize you not treat you. They can stabliize you and ambulance you some where else regardless if you can or can't afford it. Fact they put all their staff on pay raise freeze after it was built they are miss handling their money they don't even have an OR. NO tax payer should give them More money to miss handle. The directors made the mess They should hold accountability NOT the TaX Payers!

So what are you going to do with an empty hospital building because that is what will happen if the tax isn't passed

Well Hensleys is getting pretty run down Maybe we could have us a new Nursing home! Dummy they won't close it. They are trying to scare the crap out of you Don't let them. The Lakeys Ivesters Whinerys Pucketts and a few others with money in this town don't care if they pay higher taxes but the rest of us do Vote NO and show them a little backbone. I for one Don't want Mercy to assign over our hospital to Elk City!

That's exactly what will happen and then we will be paying for a building that will serve no purpose. If we don't vote yes and get this thing passed, the economy and growth in this town will be awful. We need the hospital.

Your a fool if you think that it won't close. This town will lose all that has been gained recently if the hospital closes. There will be no more new business and we will be lucky to keep what we have. I agree it shouldn't have been built but now that we have it letting it close will be even worse.

hear me out and think about this! First if it closes that is a consequence to their action of mismanaged money. Second, do you honestly think that if it closes and word gets out someone else won't see an opportunity? Its a new building. If it closes that give someone With Money managment skill to come in! They want to scare you. They screwed up and its easier for them to have you pay for it then it is to let it be an opportunity for sayre to get bigger with someone with money management skills.

Yes it's miss managed money, there is no question about that, however the consequences of it closing are not going to be felt by the city leaders that did it but by the elderly that live here that use the hospital, by the doctors that are here, and the businesses that will lose revenue from it not being here.

To your second point, what health firm is going to come in here and buy a hospital that has failed once already. Think about this, how many businesses do you see that have opened up in a building that has housed a failed business prior to them and have succeeded? It rarely happens and in the medical field I'm betting that no company would be willing to risk the money it would take to buy the hospital.

Look I'm not happy about adding another tax to what we already pay, I just think losing the hospital over a penny would be worse than having to pay that penny each time I make a purchase. Let me add one thing for you to think about. This town didn't have the foresight to see what kind of economic impact Wal-Mart would have had years ago and we have suffered from that ever since. Wether you like the members of the city council or the mayor or not, it is obvious that there has been improvement in the last two years toward strengthening this towns economy. Without a doubt letting the hospital close will jeopardize what can happen here in the future.

They won't close the Hospital. Look at all the money they spent running new gas lines to the industrial site that is south of town, Look at the money spent on the concrete spent and buildings built and land bought. Look at all the homes torn down and the land took for the labor. Look at the money they could make if they sold the Old hospital. Look at all the damm money they spent moving the police department which wasn't needed and look at the damm money they spent buying the anthonys building and remodeling it into the city offices which weren't needed These Freaks are money wasting fools don't let them scare you there are resources out there they just don't want to have to use them when they can get you to pay for them. VOTE NO!!!!!!!!!!

The old hospital won't bring enough money to make up one months worth of shortfall. I believe the Anthony's building was given to the city. Have they spent money they shouldn't have, probably, but the hospital will close if this doesn't pass. Go ask a doctor here in town and see what they say.

this has nothing to do with who likes or dislikes who. Your right the town didn't see how walmart would impact it you raise that penny your taking your sales tax to ten cents on the dollar. Other who can't afford that penny will drive to wal-mart vs the grocery store in town. You see one penny others see $10 for gas so they can drive to wal-mart spend 200. And save 20.

One cent on $200 is $2 not $20 and the $2 you save at Walmart you will more than spend on gas getting there.

Your adding one cent to the tax. Which is 2 dollars added to the 8 dollar you already pay in tax for every hundred you spend. So that's 10 dollars. So no its not just 2 dollars. You add that tax and in 5 year I guarantee you sayre will be hurting. Sayre has a lot of potential for 2 reasons 1st the court house. 2nd the college. If O R's were added to that new building you could have brought in other Dr.' More nurses and more money. Creating more jobs. Just like your one penny you don't see anything on a profound level . You want the tax payer to pay more and in two years you'll be back to square one bc your changing the problem your just adding more debt to it! Your school could have a whole lot better too. Those teachers (Under Paid) and that building need a lot done to them. Its better then elk city which is an attractions to outsiders too. Yet you want to drop more tax payers money on a hospital that has already proven itself incompetent? Now your 1cent is just that 1cent that will Make No Sense! I hope people Vote No!

Sorry your not changing the problem. Your doing exactly what our president is doing. Charge it to those who bust their *ss putting the american people in debt while every one else sits on their *ss spending it and if you can't see that clearly then I don't know what else to say.
