This disposable camera taser can take down a grown man. If you don't believe me check out google and do a search.

Sorry Brett, this is not a modified camera. Look at the picture. This is a non-modified camera. The child's dad, on Channel 3, was shown "shocking" himself. No twitching, no pull back, no screaming. Multiple children at Morgan touched this device.

If you look carefully at the sites about the modified camera - the voltage that is estimated for the modified camera (which this is not) is far less than the low end consumer models producing 20000 Volts.

Look at the picture. There is no soldering. There are no probes / leads. No spaced arching device / tool. There are no added parts to allow for a large charge to build up, only enough for one low end flash.

Felony charge. I would like to see the juvenile court judges face when the child's lawyer turns on the camera with the cover off, pushes the button on and touches the place that activate the flash. When the lawyer has no pain, is not affected, and lets see how did you put it ... is not taken down - what do you think Clinton police look like. Barney Fife looking for crime.

THE POINT OF THE MATTER IS THAT, THE CHILD SHOULDN'T HAVE BROUGHT IT TO SCHOOL. WHERE DID HE LEARN HOW TO MAKE IT OFF THE INTERNET.

You don't need the internet to discover this "shocking" fact. ANY CURIOUS KID who disassembles a disposable camera may be accidently buzzed, and that's how one "learns" how to do it. STOP BLAMING THE INTERNET!

Take a look at the video from the local news channels. You may get a look, not at the camera that the reporters had or the one the dad had showed the reporters, but the one confiscated by the police. The camera was not modified - only the cover removed. These police should be ashamed of themselves. They invite the reporters in and describe this uncovered camera as a "home made taser". Describe it as an immobilizing device. Wonder why no one at school was sent to the nurse? Wonder how the dad was able to stand, talk, move and touch this camera. If you watch the video, he is actually shocking himself on camera. This is not just for one channel, but three sets. One after another. What a crock!

PLEASE give me a break. Arresting this young boy for playing with a disposible camera is an example of 'heavy handed machismo' instead of common sense. Yes a disposible camera can generate 600V; at almost ZERO current. Power equals voltage times current and last time I checked the math any number multiplied by zero equals ZERO.

My high school shop teacher charged several very large capacitors and left them on every work bench. On the black board in large letters were the words "DO NOT TOUCH THE ITEM ON YOUR BENCH". Well boys being boys it didn't take long before someone was playing with the capacitor and ended up touching the two posts at the same time. The electric spark was loud and shocked the boy pretty good. So what happened? Others had to try it. It was a memorable class and one the demonstrated the energy holding potential of a capacitor. The same device that is in the disposible camera.

I guess the Clinton Police officers never took electricity 101 in school.

Brett, Don't believe everything you read or see on the internet. As an electronics designer I can assure you that the disposable camera taser is a JOKE. The amount of 'energy' required to fire a flash tube is miniscule compared to a taser.

I did not want to link the page where it tells you how to make one, but trust me it can take down someone if it is built properly.

Either way I do think this whole thing is a joke. The camera doesn't seem to have been modified from the pictures I have seen, but if in fact it was modified I think some charges should follow. Just not felonious ones...lol

Maybe the teachers need to stop freaking out at every little thing and calling the cops on your kids.

Keep your closed mind north of the border ok? This is the same kid who had bomb making instructions confiscated from him. The same kid who was trying to make an electronic triggering device. The same kid who draws pictures of bombs exploding over various parts of a map. The same kid who talks about "getting" the bullies before they get him...
So why sit back and wait for him to blow up the school, maybe taking action against him now will save hundreds of students from the same Columbine terror!
Take your bleeding hearts, and "harmless" theories somewhere else, this kid has problems and needs to be controlled before he snaps.
In case you're wondering, I have kids in the Clinton Public Schools, and I APPLAUD the police for taking action.

So is he being charged with a felony for bringing a camera to school or because no one in Clinton can figure out how to help a keep who is desperately screaming for help and no one is listening. Sounds like people like you have already made up their minds the kid is no good and he needs to be gotten rid of. Control is not the same as helping and your exclusionary attitude towards this boy is a great reason for me to avoid your town.

this is studpid
blown out of proportion and the cops are stupid. The camera is not a "demobilizing device" as officer dunn said it was.
and people did get shocked, only because they volunteered

all of you are retards
The kid isn't excluded, he has friends. No one excludes him, he excludes himself from everyone but a select few. Also, it was taken too seriously and he isn't crazy. He's not going to "snap" and there's not going to be another columbine. He just brought a shocking device that does 1/4 the voltage of a prank shocking pen you can get anywhere... GO BARACK OBAMA

I wouldn't compair this kid to the "Columbine Teens" as did some really paranoid person from Clinton, CT.

He seems more along the lines of McGyver!

I really think people are blowing this WAY out of proportion..... Am I the only person on this board that made homemade "weapons" when I was a kid???

You're wierd..... You should try kicking back and drinking a Corna. More police and more rules and more prisons won't solve the problem.

Yeah, WTF and, ya know what..it's probably YOUR kids doing the bullying...the fact is the kid took apart a camera, for god's sake. Let's not get all paranoid over every little thing..the kid shows some interest in creating something, figuring out how it works..no, he shouldn't bring it to school..but a FELONY? c'mon now..that's just a waste of taxpayer money. If the school/police think he was bringing it to try to 'protect himself'..I don't know..here's an idea, find out what the greater issue is, who's scaring the crap out of this kid and why he felt the need to bring it to school. Cracks me up when stuff like this happens and all the other parents jump in and say "charge him" ..yeah..I'm sure YOUR kids have nothing to do with being a part of the bigger issue..nope, not your innocent little babies, right?
