A late night fire left a family homeless this week. John and Deborah Simonds lost their mobile home Tuesday night to the blaze after the Rockingham Fire Department responded at around 11 p.m. According to the police report, John Simonds woke up to the smell of smoke and found the kitchen on fire.

about as good as paid departments considering where I used to live most people who died in house fires did so within blocks of a fully staffed fire station.

a smoke alarm is the latest fad, they should buy one before they die in a fire.
