If it is at all possible when lights that are found to be unnecessary, the first step is to replace it where more lighting is needed. Atkinson St has always been poorly lit and could use some consideration. Very bad visuals at night, especially near dusk and when it is raining. Check out number of incidents and accidents in that are and times of days(evening) they occurred. I see you are saying the commision is keeping public safety in mind so I hope they will check into this. Little more lighting there may save the town from paying out damage awards when accidents do happen and can be blamed on poor lighting. I do agree however that there on some unnecessary lights. I hope after the public is given information they do get off the stick for a change and attend meetings so they have some input rather than waiting for the damage to be done and then complain about it.

this is s great idea, and glad it is being approached in sensible, include-all way. as it says in the article, if you want a light to remain on, go to the meeting; if you want a light off, go to the meeting. if you want to make a song and dance, spout away as usual here.

Why bother going to the meetings and giving input. The selectboard is going to do whatever they want to anyways. Trust me I attend, I voted and was in the majority, but it doesn't matter here.

Jerry, you're so right. Plus the majority of voters in Rockingham don't even pay taxes. They get rebates from the dept. of taxation. What do they care if there tax bills go up an up? I work two jobs and my wife works so I can pay taxes. How many people outside of the employees there families and union members showed up for town meeting? They had a special interest for being there. The board did the right thing and all they get is crap.

heres a crazy idea, disolve the village, the town, get rid of all the people who work there and all the boards sewer water highway crews ect and start from scratch, hire back what you need as you need it, buy new equiptment only as you need it , go without for a while and many wont complain anymore when things go down the tubes and they have to pitch in to shovel a road or fix something sick of i want to cut cut cut and then when they cut the people wine about that, so just get rid of it all.

Think of all the money we would save if we didn't have to pay union dues!
Then hire back only those who are actually needed, like those who really teach not the babysitters. Maybe some of the unemployed welfare recipients could be made to help out at the school with the children instead of all the overpaid special ed. do nothings who soak the town for millions!

Concord Ma is looking to cut street lights but they also say if you want them on in your neighborhood then pay to keep them on>

You guys are right about the Unions sucking the town dry and we donít need them here. Did you listen to that fiasco at 4 Reese Circle Friday?

CO detector sounding so it goes to a 1st alarm 2 engines and rescue truck along with ambulance all respond and 2 fire depts called to cover BF
Westminster and Rockingham summoned by the union Depty Cenate.

When all was saidf and done a motorcycle that ran in ther garage under the house was the4 cause of the 30 parts per million. God forbid Weston start
his HOG at BFFD or fart at the station house.

Col James Doolittle said it best "THERE ISW NOTHING THAT BEATS HARDER THAN THER HEART OF A VOLUNTEER"

Volunteers get the job done Union man depts. needs them.
There is nothing that beats harder than the heart of a volunteer.

Col Doolittle said these famous words when American bombers flew into Japan for the first to bomb knowing that they would have to bail out in China and still they went.

Chief is away and when he is at the station he dispatches at all mutual aid fires out of town while volunteers do the job.

Great going Chief leave for bike week while Roots on the River and Alumni week are here and 2 volunteers out of town but they don't earn 89 thousand dollars like you do so there.

Dennis what are smoking?

We only have 4 Union men at that dept and great planning huh leave the busiest time of year.

He represents 1/4 qtr of the dept except size and weight so who is left when the Cenate is out in Chester doing police work?

Sam works at Rescue Inc in Brattleboro when not on the job at BFFD

Fredrick's slings pizzas and both him and Sam live out of town, Weston and Cenate are the only 2 who live in the village, Boneless Dexter lives on the Pleasant Valley road so do you get the picture?

That dept depends solely on folks like :Larry and Tony who live in BF. That new Capt works in Lebanon NH and does live in BF at least, the Cenate son-in-law bag job

That dept is an absolute waste of money..

Dennis I know you have an allegiance to municipal employees because you are one or was. Are you still collecting disability? I seem to remember they filled your job after 3 years out

What is left after the fire/police take almost the entire budget?

We cant even buy Christmas decorations since the Island house fire destroyed them back in the 60s.

Wake the FUUUUUUUU up
