worried parents

Hi Iím a concerned parent that lives in Savannah TN and Iím really frustrated with the school board here. The school that my daughter attends has a big mold problem and the school board is trying to play it down like it is no big deal. But I have talked to teachers and faculty members about the mold and the story in the paper a few weeks ago was not even a ľ of the real story. The papers state that the mold is isolated just to the library but this is not true the mold is behind the dry erase boards on toys in the pre-k classes etc. it is everywhere kids are getting sick but nothing is being done. I hope that by typing this that this story will get the real attention it deserves. Maybe the school board will do something about it instead of trying to pull the wool over the communitiesí eyes.
Thank you,
dude

If kid's are getting sick due to the mold it would be front page news and it would make the 6 O'Clock news. The mold would make them significantly ill and possibly compromise their immune systems.

dude! Im a parent of a sick kid! For going on 3 weeks now! I also work in the school system. It would not make them significantly ill. I personally have seen and witnessed the mold problem. Its worse than its let on. And yes it was on the paper and news. Rooms are being cleaned out because they cant keep the furniture in the room. Its on cork boards dry erase boards chairs, cots, books, 90% of the library books that are still having to be cleaned for three weeks now? Do you think theres a problem now? Or should I go on....

Yes you absolutely believable, and I'm Santa Claus.

Note your moral outrage. Kid's are getting sick and yours have for 3 weeks and yet you type about how they are all getting sick yet you don't even mention taking your kid to the doctor and that doctor finding that your kid is sick from mold. What you have wrapped up is what sounds more like a conspiracy theory. And yes breathing is mold spores especially on the level you claim will make them significantly sick.

Do you have a child in this school?? Probably not. Have you seen the mold? Pictures or in person?? Probably not. So before you go rambling conspiracy theory get the facts. My child has been sick for over 2 weeks. We have been to the dr twice. And yes the mold is contributing to the sickness. Something needs to be done. But it seems its all being covered up and no one can answer any questions at the health dept or school board.

3 of them in fact. No stupid I'm not rambling about conspiracy theories. I didn't say anything about a grassy knoll. Instead what I said was that the original poster was laying out what they have said very much like a conspiracy theory. But anyway go on about your hyperbole.

For several weeks, a number of teachers at East Hardin have been monitoring and documenting the humidity in their classrooms and library daily. At no time, since they have been collecting this data, has the humidity dropped below 90%. Reading are taken during normal school hours with the HVAC system operating. Various surfaces in the classrooms and library are damp to the touch and metal chairs in these areas are rusting. Molding is growing in East Hardin, period.
The Principal has been notified on numerous occasions by the teachers and the Superintendent has inspected the school. Neither man is taking action and purposely intimidate those teachers would report the problem.

I was told that one of the Pre-K classes had to stay outside all day on Tuesday due to mold in their room. Do you know how hot it was Tuesday not hot for children to be outside all day. These are our children if we take them out of school they will threaten to take us before the board for our child missing. What can we do as parents to protect our children. My child as asthma also and uses two different inhalers already along with allergy medicine. They are still having problems. God send these children so help Please!!!

My child told me it was in the lunch room and drips of the ceiling in there food in her words today when I picked her up. I haven't seen it but I am going in tomorrow to talk to Mr.B and check myself because that is ridiculous if its true children have a way of exaggerating things.

This is a very good sign you shouldn't ask questions.

This is a good sign you shouldn't make statements. While news of it has dropped it hasn't dropped in the provocatively as it has here. I think it also left out the story of all the sick children being made sick due in part to mold. But hey thanks so much for your input.

There is a sign at our gas station in walnut grove that says, if you have any concerns or want to voice your opinion on this to be at the school board meeting Monday night. We might get something done if a bunch shows up and sticks together on it.
