I just had my first baby in Jan here at Hardin Medical Center... I had heard so many bad stories about the nurses and the hospital but my doc was here so I decided to just have her here... It was the BEST decision I have ever made, the nurses here are amazing and took such great care of my child and me! If I have any more kids I'll be more than happier to have them here!!!

My baby doc was Dr Gregory Mitchell and I love him, he has FANTASTIC bedside manner and really made me feel like I did good after I had my child since he knew I was so scared! His office is right behind the hospital and he was there in no time when I was ready to deliver! Definitely use him again!!!

I've heard Dr Thayer is very good and very straight forward if that's what you're looking for, he doesn't have good bedside manner however!

Good luck and all the best to you and the soon to come baby :)

Dr. Mersky in Selmer is a great dr. Trust me DO NOT use Hardin Medical. The hospital in Selmer is a great hospital. I worked at hmc so I know first hand and with my experience confidentiality and pt care is not their priority at all.

Dr Mitchell delivered both of my children. I couldn't have asked for anyone better. I had several complications, but he took excellent care of me! Dr Thayer is an excellent doctor as well. I saw him some with each pregnancy. He is very straightforward and doesn't sugar coat anything, but is an excellent doc!
As far as OB staff, I loved them all. They were so helpful to me and my family. They took great care of us as well.

Regardless where you choose, you will find ppl who have differing opinions, both good and bad. Every experience and pregnancy is different. I wish you all the best of luck and prayers for an excellent pregnancy!

I had one child in Savannah (thank God Dr. DeSandre has retired - definitely would NOT recommend, but the hospital was excellent) and one in McNairy County , delivered by Dr. Ganapathy. We received excellent care there as well. I cannot say enough good things about either hospital.

I liked Dr. Blankenship. Oh but he's dead now so that wouldn't help would it?

Please don't have your baby here in Savannah!! The hospital here is not equipped if something were to go wrong. I had all three of my children at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, AL. The hospital is awesome! Dr. Woodford( Florence Obgyn Group) is a wonderful doctor. I have several friends who uses him also. Congrats on your baby!

I wouldn't use savannah either. I would definitely go else where incase of any complications. Womens Clinic was very thorough. They deliver my first one without having any of my history due to my water breaking at 29 weeks and my doctor refusing my records. They were extremely concerned with my second and I had very close monitoring. Could not ask fir any better.

If you have complications in Florence, AL. They take you to Birmingham not Tupelo. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I know several people who had babies in Savannah and if they had to do it over again they wouldn't ; due to things that happened.

Your best bet would be Dr Merski in selmer, he is great, fun and always gets to the root problem and doesnt rush you in and out of the office due to having too many patients. He takes his time to make sure you and baby can be as healthy as possible. He does everything to make you feel comfortable. Trust me on this, he is the best in the area. I have been to ones like dr mitchell where all they do is over book ppl and rush you in and out. Its annoying and it shouldnt be tht way. You should want to go to the doctor and have a great experience,, you will with Dr merski. And he is located in the hospital which makes things a lot easier. :)
