At first I was saddened to learn PD uses the n word but then disgusted by the media to find out it was many years ago, not a current offense. We all grow and learn and understand better the right and wrongs in life. This is absolutely a witch hunt to create yet another diabolical white vs black conversation. I am southern and was raised by my parents this word is offensive to the African American race so we didn't use it and this is what I teach my own children. But a talk show host said they have enpowered this word and basically gave it a new definition and that is why they as black people can use this but those of us of other races cannot. If the rest of the other races in this country: (white, asian, jews, latino, native american, etc.) are expected to respectfully not use the n word then they must first set the example of what is offensive to their culture and in equality no one be given a free pass to use it. How are we as all the other races to know this word is so grotesquely offensive to them when they themselves use it in reference toward one another. There are even African Americans who do not understand why their own people practice this so how in the world are the rest of the races in this country expected to. If it's wrong then it's just wrong.

Very well said, I agree with you completely. I would also like to add that if Walmart, Target, etc. have decided to no longer carry any merchandise bearing Paula Deen's name, because supposedly they are so offended that she used the "N" word several years ago, will they also in turn stop carrying all of the black hip hop artists CD's where they use the word "N" repeatedly in every song?

Very good point. Sounds like a good reason to start an online petition directed at these big box stores. I have decided to not buy anything from Wal-Mart. I can purchase higher quality merchandise at almost the same price at other stores.

White People owe the black savages NOTHING! no apologies, and the only reparations they deserve is a handful of lead.

Even though she said it years ago it's still a bad word. I love her restaurant and all but I just can't relate to someone who used such language. I'm sorry but y'all can sit here and say "oh yeah I've used that word before" but you know how the word originated.I don't care if rappers use it they are ignorant. It's a word that needs to be banned. I'm not black I am white and I believe she should learn from her mistakes.

I think it's a horrible word but I can't for the life of me understand why Paula Deen couldn't say it 30 years ago in a private conversation but young black males can say it every day. To me, that's racism.

Abraham Lincoln Quote

I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything.
