Also I see nowhere where it says "work for the common good", except in the communist websites.
This country has become a form of a democratic republic over the years as the state legislatures used to pick the representatives to be sent to Washington. Now the people vote on it and are not doing a very good job for themselves or their states. More and more people are being taught that this country is a democracy. It was never meant for this country to be ruled by a mob of people. That is a majority rules concept. If majority rules we need no laws as the majority will decide what will and should be done with each situation.That is what is happening now as people have started voting themselves handouts. Our republic has been changed into a form of a democratic country, where almost anything that the brainwashed majority thinks is o.k. is done.It will be the downfall of this country.
In my mind there us a lot of difference in the meaning working for the common good, than promoting general welfare for our defenses and secure blessings of liberty to OURSELVES.

Those clear unambiguous words of the Preamble to the Constitution,(enumerating the very reason the government was created), must burn like acid in the Right Wing brain.

According to very Preamble to the Constitution, our government exists to "promote the general welfare". That must make the Founding Fathers liberal Democrats,("Libtards "). Only socialists care about the common good. So, Washington, Hamilton, Franklin, and the rest of the signers were all "Libtards" because they created the government to pursue the common good.

As for me, if supporting the Constitution of the United States makes me a "Libtard" - I'm proud to be one.

A good post but If I may, I would like to add my two cents.
I feel that you are correct on most everything that you wrote. I do see Palin somewhat differently. McCain was giving absolutely no effort to win. He didn't attack Obama and let Obama walk all over him. McCain then asked Palin to be his VP. She accepted and begin a fierce campaign against Obama. The News Media went into its usual offensive assault against Obamas new challenger, which was Palin. Palin disputed many of Obamas statements and challenged him whenever possible. McCain just sat back doing nothing. Several weeks later Palin was told to shutup, back off and lay back and do what she was told to do by McCain and his staffers. I am not saying that she was all that qualified but her credentials were better than Obamas at that time. She at least had spunk and gave some life to an old farts bid to lose. McCain never had any thoughts that he was to win. He purposely threw that election and it was so obvious. Any 16 year old kid could have run a better campaign for class president then McCain did running for president.
Romney is another man and the same story. He didn't want the job and it showed. Romney came after Obama the first debate but after doing so good backed off as he almost screwed up and might have won the election by mistake.Just another rigged election for our first Black president as McCain nor Romney could get the conservative voters to vote for them. Probably because neither were conservatives. Bush was also a fairly liberal. He was just another RINO. Republicans will never win again as long as they keep running liberals and keep trying to act like Democrats. I think the Democrats have that field covered.
