"Florida residents shocked by allegations of police KKK ties
Published July 21, 2014
Associated Press
FRUITLAND PARK, Fla.– Residents of a small, central Florida town say they're shocked and disgusted by the recent disclosure that two members of its police force are accused of being members of the Ku Klux Klan.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement last week released a report saying Fruitland Park Deputy Chief David Borst and Officer George Hunnewell were Klan members. Borst denies being a member.
Borst resigned and Hunnewell was fired last week. A third Fruitland Park officer resigned in 2010 after his Klan ties became public.
A researcher with the Southern Poverty Law Center says it's extremely rare nowadays to find police officers who are Klan members.
Cases the officers worked on also are under scrutiny. On Friday, prosecutors dismissed three cases -- two traffic offenses and a misdemeanor battery."
-
Why should residents be shocked? It's been a crooked police force for years with running speed traps. It's a rinky-dink town with a church on every corner and radar units on the other corner.

"Children Exposed To Religion Have Trouble Knowing Fact From Fiction, Study Finds
Being raised in a religious household can make you more likely to believe impossible things are true, according to a new study published in Cognitive Science.
Researchers asked 66 five- and six-year-old children whether characters in several types of stories were "real people."
In realistic stories that included only plausible events and settings, all children from all backgrounds thought the characters were "real."
In stories that featured magical elements, like "invisible sails" or "a sword that protects you from danger every time," children who went to church or religious schools were more likely to believe that the characters were "real people." Children with no exposure to religion were more likely to say characters in magical stories were "not real people."
"The results suggest that exposure to religious ideas has a powerful impact on children's differentiation between reality and fiction, not just for religious stories but also for fantastical stories," write the researchers.
The researchers concluded that "religious teaching, especially exposure to miracle stories, leads children to a more generic receptivity toward the impossible, that is, a more wide-ranging acceptance that the impossible can happen in defiance of ordinary causal relations." "

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Recession
...The Great Recession affected the entire world economy, with greater detriment to some countries than others, but overall to a degree which made it the worst global recession since World War II.[10][11] It was a major global recession characterised by various systemic imbalances, and was sparked by the outbreak of the U.S. subprime mortgage crisis and financial crisis of 2007–08.

...According the U.S. National Bureau of Economic Research (the official arbiter of U.S. recessions) the US recession began in December 2007 and ended in June 2009, and thus spanned over 18 months.

In August 2013, Texas Governor Rick Perry wrote a letter to the President, informing him minors crossing the border was up 90% from the previous year.

"Everyday of delay risks more lives," Perry's letter said. "Every child allowed to remain encourages hundreds more to attempt the journey."

"Was the White House told there were large flows of Central Americans coming?" "Of course they were told. A lot of times."

Sincerely held missed-conceptions...

Do fertilized eggs go to heaven?
by ih8h8rs
SUN JUL 20, 2014 AT 08:46 AM PDT
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/07/20/1311...

It is the sincerely held belief of some that fertilized eggs are people. That's why Evangelical Christian pro-lifers like the good folks at Hobby Lobby are vehemently opposed to any form of birth control that might possibly interfere with the implantation of the blastocyst in the lining of the uterus. In their view, those kinds of contraceptives murder fertilized eggs. Evangelical Christians also believe all people have souls, thus logic dictates each fertilized egg must have a soul. When they die, do their souls go to heaven?

...Human fertilized eggs, aka "zygotes," have some serious QA issues. It might come as a surprise to many to learn that "two-thirds of all human eggs fertilized during normal conception either fail to implant at the end of the first week or later spontaneously abort." And conception isn't an instantaneous event--it is a process that takes place over the course of several days.(See "The Good Egg," Discover Magazine 2004.) At what point in the conception process does God breathe a soul into a fertilized egg? Does the zygote get its soul the instant the sperm penetrates the egg, or 6 days later IF the blastocyst actually hatches and THEN manages to attach to the uterus? And once attached, there's a good chance the blastocyst will spontaneously abort days, weeks, or months later. When does God create a person with a soul? Day 8 post-ovulation seems like an okay bet, but to be on the safe side He should probably hold off injecting the soul for 12 weeks, because the risk of miscarriage goes down to 3-4% after that. Regardless of the timing, this process seems reprehensibly wasteful of zygotes and souls if you ask me.

...Most of the inspiration for this diary comes from an article in the American Journal of Bioethics titled, "The Scourge: Moral Implications of Natural Embryo Loss." The author concludes, as I do, that people who claim to believe that a fertilized egg deserves the same moral status as an adult human being don't behave as they should if they really believed their own claim:

A true believer in the Claim should be deeply interested in the terrifying Conclusion and should act to alert others to the existence of this Scourge..... However, there has been no such call from the proponents of the Claim....It could not be enough to merely reach personal satisfaction on the matter, for with 200 million lives per year at stake, it would surely be a matter for heated discussion in the journals or in the Church. This marked lack of curiosity about what is claimed to be of immense importance suggests that even now, few people really believe that full moral status begins at conception.

Dang, it's that liberal media...

Here is more proof that Meet the Press’s David Gregory is but a Republican shill
by Egberto Willies
SAT JUL 19, 2014 AT 08:00 PM PDT
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2014/07/13/1313...

f you blinked, then you missed it. Rick Santorum was on the panel on Meet the Press. The panel was discussing the Republican suit against the president.

David Gregory said that if a Republican president had delayed parts of the implementation as President Obama did, Democrats would have cried foul. Jennifer Granholm, former governor of Michigan, would have none of it. Granholm pointed out that during the Medicaid Part D implementation former President George W Bush delayed implementation of certain pieces and nobody said anything about it. She called the suit hogwash, "the legal equivalent of birtherism."

Who is the journalist? Shouldn’t Gregory have known that? Had she not been competent in knowing the realities that today’s journalists seem unable to find on their own, the wrong impression would have been left by his assertion-like question. Granholm also pointed out that Republicans voted overwhelmingly to delay the very provision they are suing the president for delaying. Did Gregory not know that either?

But the most blatant expression of bias was likely a subconscious slip of the tongue that probably went unnoticed by most. Gregory asked Santorum about the divisiveness in the Republican Party with respect to different policies.

Santorum did a very good job of keeping the topic on the problems within the Republican Party. He even stated that they needed a positive message that spoke to the blue collar worker. He said that was the reason for writing his book Blue Collar Conservatives: Recommitting to an America That Works.

Unasked, out of context, and out of the blue Gregory blurted out "the Obama economy." It is obvious where his thoughts were. You could see a slight controlled surprise on Granholm’s face.

Many in the conservative sphere love to talk about the Liberal Media. Most liberals are still trying to find it.

I tried to get a count of illegal aliens entering into the US by year. That is difficult to do with the Bush years.

It seems that Republicans have stepped up counting efforts just more recently.
.
Texas Goober Rick Perry followed Bush as Texas Goober. I'm waiting for a count BY BUSH as how many he thinks came in through Texas while he was Goober.
