We all know that malta, ny got a 4.2 billion dollar chip plant. Currently there is a 2 billion dollar expansion going on there to bring it well over 6 billion. But wait there's better news. A probable second chip plant for 10 billion dollars is coming to the capital district!

My propery value has already gone up! On the downside we don't have a prison or a fake fort so I call it a wash.:(. Lol

There's a better chance of aliens landing in Utica than a chip plant. Wait, the refugees are aliens! Better start prepping Marcy!

That is great news for Malta and all of NYS. I think this news has been expected for a while now. There is another possible chip plant project even larger than that where NY is competing with Oregon for. It could be interesting on how Governor Cumo's proposal for tax free zones around SUNY campuses cones into play.

The refugees are the driving force for the chip plant. They will bring their worldwide knowledge to the very culturally diverse utican population and employment pool.

The local Uticans pretend to care about technology to get the chip plant just like they pretend to care about hockey to get the AHL team. It's hilarious. I seriously doubt any of them know a single thing about microchips or hockey.
What's funny about the "microchip plant theory" with utica? First of all the existing talent pool of workers there is not educated enough for it. Sorry but places like this aren't scouring unemployment lines looking for workers. College degrees need only apply. Second. Anyone qualified to work at places like this are not moving to the utica region. Just the facts. Utica couldn't secure a food processing plant but they dream of chip plants. Lol

The Chip plant in Marcy is all part of the Governor's deal with Central NY. If the Casino deal passes (appears it has) and if the SUNY no tax deal is finalized with no hitches this behind the scene deal will materialize. The Governor plans to show he is revitalizing upstate and our area will be one to benefit. Remember under the Governor's SUNY no tax zone plans there will be no tax for the business or their employees. Mark my words if the ducks remain in order the Utica area will be one to benefit...

It interesting alright. When someone comes along that knows exactly what IS and what ISN'T going on and NEVER WAS going on hears and reads random semi-informed comments such as yours it gives a great insight into the way people like you think and motivate.

Now I'm betting you can't really get what that means but in a bigger sense in your microworld I suppose that's a good thing.

Yes kids the ship isn't sinking and there is flares on the horizon another ship is coming forthwith. There there just cuddle with mom and dad and go to sleep in one berth together and happy.

There's no deal. The "deal" was with the Oneidas, not the people of CNY. He thought he could use the leverage of the situation to force their hand and he'd be the hero of resolving a decades long battle demonstrating his statesmanship in anticipation of his upcoming presidential run..

The plants in Malta are owned by the richest county in the world. They already don't pay income tax here in the US. The companies that build chip fab plants dictate to the state, not vice versa. They were just bonded $70 million for infrastructure improvements by the Saratoga IDA in Malta. Anybody with a clue understands that with huge investments being made by major technology companies in the region that the Capital District is the place to be. Marcy doesn't stand a chance. The more I read from these nitwits on Topix the more I understand why this place is so f'd. They're desperate to believe anything and local politicians just keep stroking them.

David, I hope you end up being right about this one. I still think this area has much greater potential than people give it credit for. The following is a quote from the Governor last month. Utica/Marcy certainly fits the description of a "long struggling region".

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says he may soon make a major economic announcement for upstate New York as published reports say a computer plant codenamed "Project Azalea" is in negotiations to create 1,000 jobs.

Cuomo refused to say anything about the project he hinted at during a news conference Wednesday. He called it a potential "big economic development piece" for the long struggling region.

When was the last time you took a good look at the refugees arriving in Utica on a daily basis?

None of them speak English and ALL are being supported by our great Social Services. If any of them have IQs over 10, it would be a miracle.

If you knew what azalea meant you would realize that was last years big "expected good news" cmon people you don't ever learn.
Glad the musical chairs in SUNY got made news. Suny was dismissed by the people who just passed ny up but that was only 10% of the reason you have a snowballs chance in hell. GF is a known IP thief and no one is going to play with that for pennies from albany.
