My dog bit someone years ago so I took his ear and bit down on it as hard as I could until it bled so he knew not to do that again and he didn't.

Please explain to me how this situation came to this point. Our dog bit someone in the leg when that person was yanking on the back of our dogs neck. The person had to have two stitches and we has to provide proof of shots. The dog has to be quarantined for 10 days at humane society. End of story. That time dog was tied in my yard. Two years later he got loose and went to a neighbors yard where the neighbor started hitting the dog with a bat to get him out is their yard. The dog turned and knocked him down. He didnt bite. The neighbor called animal control and even though he didnt bite we had to provide proof of shots and he had to be quarantined again. This time we had to go to court. Same judge. He knew about first incident as this neighbor was aware of what happened before. The judge just ordered a fine for us for unleashed dog. My husband chose to have the dog put down because we were afraid if he go loose again and a small child was involved , we wouldn't be able to forgive ourselves. Both times it was because people were bothering the dog. The first time in our own yard while he was tied. I can understand that the second time it was on someone else's property so that was bad. My point is that the judge did not order the dog to be put to sleep.

if this was a black family they would be in jail or fins and tickets ..... why wasn't the dog up to date with his shots ,,,,is this not a ticket to the owner?... so not the next person whose dog did nothing should not receive a ticket also ....

the dog was up to date with its shots. Where did you get the idea it wasn't? Voices in your head talking again?

if you'll do a little research on this site, you'll see that if it was a black family they would have tied it in the back yard and let him starve to death. Theres more than one thread on that topic.

These owners seem to be total idiots from what I've read on this particular story. First they want sympathy, public outrage and MONEY to save a dog they don't even want. Check out the fb page. We need donations to save this little guy even though we don't want him back. Look at the pic on the fb page, theres a puppy in the background, what are they going to do with him when he gets up in years? Typical sheltie life span is somewhere around 9 years. Jack is 7. I don't agree with puttin him down, shelties are nippers, not biters. They won't bite without being hurt or provoked somehow. Mine started showing that he was getting food aggressive when I took away his 24/7 food access after he was no longer a puppy, he quit that real fast when he found out I wasn't gunna put up with it, took less than a week of sitting with him while he ate while petting him and keeping my hands near his dish to give him enough comfort and security to know noone was going to take his food. All it takes is some training and the sense to keep an eye on your kids, both 2 and 4 legged ones.

If they put this dog down because of 1 bite I say we start a petition to demand equal treatment for sex offenders! The higher ups KNOW they're going to reoffend and let them out to wander the streets and pick their next victim.

Consider the source. The judge here is about 100 years old and senile as hell ! This guy should have a complete competency hearing. He doesn't know what day of the week it is, let alone dispense justice.
I would NOT follow that order.
Are you the guy who ran against the judge who lost? Judge is fair and follows the rules. And he's not 100 yet or senile like you have indicated. Get a life, he must have fined you something during your lifelonglife in Utica!!!!

hospitals are only required to report dog bites if you tell them you were bitten. Not all bites are obvious so if its not obvious and you care about the dog, why tell them? I wouldn't if it was an accident and it wasn't typiclly an aggressive dog, and of course, wasn't an obvious bite. Some random dog that I don't know its vaccination/bite history, yeah I probably would.
If it were in my house, the dog would be gone,if not dead! We had a heeler growl at our baby,we tried to find her a home, but no luck. We ended up putting a perfectly good dog down. That broke our hearts, but we wouldn't take a chance with our child. I think the Judge was over-stepping his authority. If it were the 2nd bite,Blue Juice!

Maybe if the blacks that do the right thing policed their own kind,we all would all be better off. Most of us do not hate blacks, just the welfare collecting, thug, scumbag types. Unfortunately the shit types are what they are portrayed as in the media. I wish the whole race would try to change the stereotype by changes in behavior, not by demanding we kiss their asses. That goes for all other minority groups as well. You will be treated according to what respect you have earned!

Stupiity at its finest. Shelties are not worse than pitbulls and rotties. Even you're dumber than a box of rocks to think that.

Sounds like you left your dog outside without watching him/her. If you don't realize that that leaves the pet at risk to be stolen, attacked or get loose and attack, then you don't have enough sense to own an animal.

some people just don't know how to raise a dog if you don't show them who is boss they will think they can be the boss over the others you have to point it out to them who is the boss when people come over teach the dog mine and point at them and say mine lets use the remote control ,, let them know its yours say MINE ,,,when they are young and they learn quick,, something they know they cant touch is other ways to teach them the word mine then when people come over you let them know ,, for some crazy reason they know bite my dog does and i never taught him the word but he knows MINE
