RE: MASCAS AND NON-ENGLISH SPEAKING STUDENTS: I would say most of these non-English speaking students have no desire to learn English. English is not spoken at home nor with their friends - no incentive to learn...

When the public schools notices are printed in 'many' different languages, to me that says,'we accommodate your language.'

When you go to the hospital, they also accommodate you - last I knew the Whidden offered interpreters in 37 (not a typo folks) languages other than English !!!

Signs in Glendale Square/Everett Square - signage in languages other than English...

Then oh oh here comes a test in English !!!! Stop catering to 'them'(whover they are) in their language, use only English and maybe they'll catch on...

BTW: I think it's wonderful when a person can speak more than one language....Keep your language and your customs in your homes...but English is paramount to obtaining a good job when you graduate...

Good point Everett resident.

Even though there is no official us language, go to any court and see what language is spoken and which language their records are written in.

Ask FFF, he can vouch.

Since FFF obviously struggles with the rules of grammar and the proper usage of syntax, it is easy to see why the kids don't fare any better.

Regarding Everett's atrocious MCAS scores. Do you people really think that Everett is the only city with students who speak many languages? The test measures the success of each city in teaching its students, and Everett's scores have consistently gone down under FFF. When was the last time FFF's butt-boy newspaper publishers have even mentioned MCAS scores? Everett's scores are so low as to be embarrassing, so they are never reported in the local rags

Are you saying there are no dumb white kids? Sounds kinda racist.

As for someone better how about Dr. Stella. He has been in the system and is a true academic.

Unlike Dr. Easy the new EHS vice principal who got his doctorate from a call in college aka University of Phoenix. Even he said his education in Jamaica was better than Everett

"Yeah, dealing with the climate change, was tough, with the snow and everything. It was a lot for me to get used to. Another thing was that the schools in Jamaica were stricter education-wise. When I first came here, they didn’t understand that what I learned in Jamaica, they hadn’t started teaching yet. I was far advanced. Mentally I wasn’t challenged for like a year or more. I had to make my brain slow down, to get on the same page with my classmates." - Omar easy

Everett has more immigrants than any other city. I believe it's because everything is free here - housing, sports, pre-school, etc. Who wouldn't want to live here?

My mistake. JOPA is correct.

It only took 14 years to get his bachelors after graduating EHS.

Mea culpa.

I also noticed that JOPA failed to have a comment on "Dr" Easy's comments about being far ahead of our students although he grew up in Jamaica.

Go Crimson Tide.

I don't see the world that way.

I don't care where you are from, your ethnicity or your social class.

I care that people are good.

In relation to this topic, I feel that Fred foresteire has proven himself and it's time for him to step aside. He's proven he has stolen from his employer. In any business world he would have been fired.

When you are the smartest person in the room, it's time to go. fred feels this and he should take this advice.

Everyone is replaceable. From presidents to CEOs there is always someone waiting to implement new and good ideas.

I didnt comment on it because I dont care.It is his opinion .So what? Are we supposed to comment on everything?By the way, the US is currently ranked 17th in educational systems in developed countries so I am hardly shocked .

How did Omar easy get his bachelors in 2010, and less than two years later earn two masters and a doctorate?

He was also employed during this time at Penn state as reported in the local papers.

These dates don't seem to make sense.

Can someone explain?

Your mistake was believing what you read in the "Not-So-Independent" , or even reading that FFF mouthpiece in the first place.
