But the contract has been looked at and it is supposedly not exclusive. FIOS just isn't interested in making the infrastructure investment necessary of offer their product here.
I have no idea what happened to the petition that the city was considering making to the FCC to control cable costs. But that was only going to control the cost of the most basic of plans and the rest of us would probably be picking up the cost of that.
With the number of satelite dishes in the city can you blame them? The would probably lose money. Also, the increase seems to be on the general part of the bill and is the amount approved by the state to be raised each year.

Don't blame them at all. And probably not a lot you can do to change their mind either.
