Another dumb and dumber druggie...smoking on the Ave with dope on ya and giving the cops a false name...go directly to jail and no 200 bucks...just like transporting drugs in your car at night and not having your lights on..can we say DUH! Johnny at the Harbor, smoking a Havana.

The miscreant will be back on the streets in the blink of an eye. Judges are "too soft".

I'm not surprised that Mr Burros had 2 warrants out for his arrest or that he was carrying heroin and a switchblade on his person. What I'm surprised about is that the SCPD gve him a ticket for smoking. I see folks all day long smoking on Pacific Ave but I've never seen or heard of anyone getting a ticket for it so it's not really an urban legend after all.

Nice Work officers, keep up the good work. Judges it's your turn now, I know it's hard, but sometimes you need to hold people accountable for their actions. Maybe some hard time is exactly the thing Mr. Greg Burros needs!

the real question is why is a cop out looing for smokers on pacific. wouldn't they better serve us by being on patrol looking for crime not cigarette smokers. unless this is their way of staying safe just hassle the locals ( who happen to carry a switchblade and heroin)

What's with all the gang violence occuring every day in Watsonville as reported in the paper?

Boy! You'd think they had a criminal problem with all the Hispanic criminal street gangster anchor baby children of the tens of thousands of their ILLEGAL Immigrant residents down there in Sanctuary City!

Where's Arizona's governor Brewer when you need someone tough on crime and ILLEGAL Immigrants!

Maybe she could fax a copy of their Immigration Law, SB 1070 over to our governor! Read it, it's only 17 pages in pdf and it sure makes sense and is well written!

Because up there in Liberal Land, smoking a cig. in public is a serious social crime and the elected leaders feel this is the best way to encourage and convince the ignorant tourists it's safe to come and spend money downtown to support their failing economy while they continue to provide expensive Progressive Socialist taxpayer funded programs to a myriad of losers!

I know? I was downtown yesterday. Everybody was smoking and riding skateboards being pulled by their dogs. Bicyclists riding the wrong way down one way streets, blowing thru STOP signs. The city should just take down all of the muni code signs downtown. That would be better.

To Duh, and everyone else. I've said it before so here it goes again. Duh, We don't need Arizon's SB 1070......There's a very good reason our legislators ane NOT doing anything about a California Immigration bill.......WE ALREADY HAVE THAT LAW ON OUR BOOKS....California Penal Code 834b.

Well, this is just one of the ways that the police can check a person out and go from there. Sometimes being lucky to catch someone doing something dangerous and illegal.
It's called smart and sensible police work.

Honest? He was doing something illegal, the police were doing their job. They can't cite each and every smoker, they would have to have 100 officers walking down Pacific.

So what is your REAL gripe? Got something special tucked in YOUR sock?
