And the LORD God formed man of the

dust of the ground, and breathed into his

nostrils the breath of life; and man

became a living soul.

Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." Ecclesiastes 12:7.
Answer: The body turns to dust again, and the spirit goes back to God, who gave it. The spirit of every person who dies--whether righteous or wicked--returns to God at death.

"'So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more'(Job 14:12).'The day of the Lord will come ... in the which the heavens shall pass away'(2. Peter 3:10)."
"What happens to the righteous dead at the second coming of Christ?" At "the day of the Lord?"
"'Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be'(Revelation 22:12).'The Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout,... and the dead in Christ shall rise ... and so shall we ever be with the Lord'(1.Thessalonians 4:16, 17).'We shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye... and the dead shall be raised incorruptible... For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality'(1.Corinthians 15:51-53)."
These texts clearly taught that when a person dies they simply cease to live. They sleep in their grave until Jesus comes at the end of the world and resurrects them. In earlier study I had learned that people do not go to either heaven or hell until after they are resurrected. God's followers then go to heaven for eternal life and those who reject God go to hell where they are destroyed.

Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die

plain truth straight from the bible, regardless of what you,ve been taught that people when they die either go straight to heaven or hell, there is no biblical support for that theory whatsoever.we are told from the bible that the dead sleep til the resurrection,if they are either in heaven or hell already ,then what point would there be in a future resurrection,it just does not make any sense.who will you believe the bible or popular theology, the truth has never been popular.

For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.

And to all the animals of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to all the creatures that move on the ground everything that has the breath of life in it I give 1 every green plant for food. It was so.

The English word soul is used to translate two original words of the Old Testament and New Testament. The Hebrew word pronounced nay-fesh, which literally means a breathing creature, is variously translated as soul, life, person, mind, heart, creature, body, himself, yourselves, dead, will, desire, man, themselves and appetite. The Greek word pronounced psoo-kay, which literally means life's breath or breathing, is variously translated as soul, life, mind and heart. According to the Holy Scriptures, a soul is a living, breathing creature that eventually dies. Nowhere in The Bible can be found an immortal soul (see What Happens When You Die?).

if you are being told that when you die you go directly to heaven than you are being lied to. the bible does not say that, tradition has taught this for many years, but the reality of this can not be supported scripturally. The dead sleep til resurrection day, that is when they are giving glorified immortal bodies not before. remeber god said that he would come again to recieve his people, when will this happen, at the last day. This is the hope that all born again christians have, the eternal gift of immortality,if they already posess it,then what point would there be in being given it.
