AN IMMORTAL SOUL -
- OR -
THE RESURRECTION ? WHICH ?

WHICH ONE ?

If man posessed an "immortal" soul -
then he would NOT need a resurrection.

IMMORTALITY OF THE HUMAN SOUL
IS IN - OPPOSITION - TO - THE RESURRECTION

"the Christian doctrine of the resurrection of
the body from the dead was in direct opposition
to the pagan notion of the inherent immortality
of the human soul, a notion held today by the vast
majority of Christians."

what,s the bibles defintion of a soul? basicly a living breathing creature.man does not posess immortality ,God only Hath immortality read (Timothy 6:16) pauls desire was to be absent from his present mortal body and to be clothed with immortality at the resurrection ,it was pauls desire."Absent from the body and to be present with the Lord" has been misconstrued by many who claim Christianity. If you dig into this a little bit deeper you,ll discover what paul had really meant.

The Bible tells us that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God
(1Cor.15:50) and Paul knew this. Therefore, Paul had a desire to escape this
"naked state" spoken of in verse 2Cor. 5:3. He did not want to feel the sting of death that so many other saints before him felt. He groaned to be clothed with the glorious body he so longed for, so that he could be present with Christ. He knew that, while he was in that mortal body, he could not be present with Him at His Kingdom.(v.2) He expected Christ to return at any moment to give immortality to those saints whose hope was the Kingdom on earth.

The subject of 2 Cor.5:1-8 is not about dying and immediately being in the
presence of the Lord. It is about a desire to be clothed with the spiritual body at Christ's coming. If you read the verses preceding v.8, you will see the subject concerns resurrection and a longing not to suffer the naked state, but to be clothed in the glorious resurrection body at His coming, in the twinkling of an eye (1 Cor. 15:52). It has nothing to do with the Satan-generated lie of the "immortal soul." It has to do with resurrection and a desire to escape the naked state (death) at His coming.

Paul knew, that while he was in his mortal body, he would not be present with the Lord. 2Cor 5:6 - "Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord." It is obvious that he'd rather be absent from that mortal body and present with the Lord. Paul, who was flesh and blood at that time, knew that could only happen in resurrection, when that mortal MUST put on immortality and when the corruptible MUST put on incorruptible.(1Cor.15:53,54) It is only Christ, dwelling in the light (heaven), who has immortality (1Tim.6:16). The saints, whose hope was the Kingdom on earth, will one day realize their hope in resurrected bodies from the grave (Hosea 13:14).
" I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction..." (see also, 1Cor 15:55).“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”

Since a major part of the Devil’s agenda was, and still is, to convince people that “you will not surely die,” it is not surprising that most Christians believe that, in some way, “you” go on living even after you die. Whether that “you” is your spirit, your soul, or some other “essence,” the bottom line is always the same—“you” are fully conscious after death and not, in fact, “dead” (i.e., without life). This belief has no basis in Scripture. God designed humans as integrated beings with a body, soul, and spirit that together make a whole individual. Adam’s body was fully formed, but just “dust” until God breathed life into it (Gen. 2:7). Adam’s “life” (whether it be called “soul” or “spirit”) had no consciousness or life of its own apart from his body. The idea that the soul or spirit is like a ghost that can separate from the body and still have consciousness and movement without the body was introduced into Judaism after the Babylonian captivity and came from there and other religions into Christianity. [3] The idea of a disembodied living soul did not come from the text of Scripture.

call or email the Tv program "The word Goes Forth" and ask Terry Bailey or Wayne Donaldson to provide you a scripture which specifically states that man has an "immortal soul" i,ll bet you that they cannot do it! This is a lie put forth by Christendom, and is not according to the Bible ,The Bible says Christ only hath immortality (Timothy 6:16)
No thanks!! I am not interested in what you have to share.
My beliefs and knowledge come from the word of God with the power of the Holy Spirit. Read 1st John 2:27.
It is also dangerous to assume what I believe, especially if someone told you!
Hummmm, It seems someone is getting convicted.
Sincerely, In the name of Jesus, my Lord and savior

OK "believe the bible" guy. Tell me something. Do you think all homosexuals should be killed? The first testament says they should. But isn't that against the commandments? Did God make a mistake? Which is it?
This is just one of the many changes from the old book to the new book. Which one should we believe? God can't be wrong so how did this happen? Is the bible wrong? And if so, which one?
And then there's Adam and Eve. Just how did we get here from there. They had 2 sons, one killed the other. But how did the population expand from that point? Incest? But isn't that against the Bible too? And didn't Abraham send his son to the city to seek out his first cousin to marry her and carry on the family blood line? Isn't this also against God's laws?
SO tell me Oh Bible Slapper, just HOW is the bible true when there's so much contradictory statements in it? Hell, read one of the other forum subject about the bible contradicting itself in the first two chapters. The poster was right on. I checked.
Give it up buddy. It's all just a fairy tale that was used and written by the churches of the times to gain control on all people. Let's face it, they were too stupid to believe in anything else back then. That makes you just about as stupid if you believe any of it.
