My heart goes out to this young lady. Please try to hold your head high. Remember you are so much better then then scrum bags doing these hateful things. Why do schools take so long to find the guilty parties in this day and age? The fear this child faces everyday, no person should have to face it let alone a child. When they do find these others doing this hate crime they need to be sent to a locked down school, and their parents also need to be put in prison, not the local lock up.
Hate will destroy our world unless we work harder to stop it now.

To hell with all of the arrogant, ignorant people who like to talk about other peoples race, religion, financial status and the such. I am sure if you ask around, these little bastards who did the harassing have ALOT of skeletons in their family closet. Maybe we should start by telling everyone those little secrets.

Oh! This makes me so angry and my heart goes out to that girl! I felt your pain! You'll get through it and be strong and better yourself. Living well is the BEST revenge!!
You know what? The first thing I thought was this...the child is worried about getting darker? Doesn't her mom put sunscreen on her? Just because she's got more melanin doesn't mean she's immune to premature aging and skin cancer. That being said..
Teach this girl to fight. Seriously. I was harassed terribly in school just one town over. It got so bad I developed a duodenal blockage and ulcers when I was 14. I was so sick my parents took me to the ER and I had to have all kinds of tests. Upper GIs, psych tests, blood work, you name it. Not only was school hell but finding out that I was sick because school was hell was even more hell.
Why was I picked on? I was different. I was from Long Island, I wasn't allowed to go out at night with my friends, I didn't do all the same things the other kids in school did, I didn't wear all the same fashions the other kids wore and when I did...the torment was even worse because there's nothing worse than being yourself than trying to fit in! Kids are cruel. The school should have a no tolerance policy put in place and instead of suspending kids from school they should be given more work as a punishment.
But first and foremost, it is the fault of the parents of the bullies. This girl needs to learn how to fight for herself, intellectually and physically. It took me a little while but I had to bust a few faces to earn my peace.
I hated doing it and I always warned people that if they pushed me to my limit where I felt I needed to protect myself, I would hurt them. A strong right hook or a fist to the nose makes a huge point especially if you are trained to get the attacker down, as I was. Like Ralphy in "A Christmas Story" I know just how he felt beating up that bully!
It took a short while for the bullies to learn that I meant what I said...others weren't very smart and it took a few defensive beatings before they got the message.
Physical violence seems like it's never the way but when you are dealing with unruly, unregulated, threatening bullies and the school district is making no effort to stop it, you have to look out for yourself and sometimes a broken nose is all they can understand. That's because bullies are generally stupid, insecure and ignorant.
While it is summer, she needs to be trained to defend herself. Also call a lawyer, in my day the teachers just turned a blind eye. That doesn't float in THIS day and age. Sue the whole school district! The Glens Falls, Queensbury and Corinth Schools all have education programs in effect and they have a no tolerance policy for bullying...wake up Saranac Lake money is tight for schools now a days, a law suit that this child's parents can win will really hurt your football program now won't it?
Do what's right.

Yes learn self defense.....and that will help your confidence.. You may dislike someone but they have 4-6 friends who are there for them, you are gravely in the wrong.
I taught my 4 children to standup....so they took alot but you knew big time when they had ENOUGH...
A bully is another name for loser in life...that is how we all can look at them. when they lose there few friends maybe they will take a momment to think first next time.
