If it brings in jobs it a good thing!

The fact of the matter is that it will create very few new jobs other than the temporary construction work. The UP yard is fully staffed now and is only moving 15 miles. There are very few jobs that will be created in addition to the existing positions. UP estimates 50-60 additional jobs above existing staffing levels.
This is a whole lot like the Spaceport. A lot of incentives, a lot of taxpayer money involved, and very little benefit for New Mexicans. While we are not directly funding the UP yard, we are giving up the lion's share of the money that would normally be benefitting the state. And guess who will pick up the slack? You betcha! The taxpayer!
Why does Union Pacific get a tax break to move a railyard when the people of New Mexico are going broke and getting a tax increase? It seems that we just keep making it easier on the fat cat and taking the responsibility for paying out even more.
How many more movies can we afford to shoot in New Mexico? How many more Space Ports? Rail Runners? GrowStone businesses? Rail Yards? It seems every time a rich man needs to get some cheap land and a free ride he comes to New Mexico and speaks to a politician. We make everyone except large business pay their share. No taxes for Wal Mart, Intel, most grocery chains, and many large corporations. But New Mexico people starting a business are taxed DOUBLE to make up for it.
Want to work for Wal Mart? New Mexico thinks that is GREAT! Want to start a successful business? Too bad, you are not gettign any tax breaks becaseu the wealthy man and the big companies dont have to pay, so YOU have to do it for them.

I believe this is called "The Golden Rule" (The dude with the "Gold" rules)?

Nothing changes much does it?:)

The only thing that changes is the time.
Only 5-10% own the country. Always has been and always will.
The top 10% of any business rules.
Real Estate - Fiancials - Insurance - Autos - Electronics -
Food - Transportation - Luxury - Energy.
Twenty percent of the people own 80% of the assests.
The rest are at the mercy of the few, and the lawyers, who are
most of the policy makers.
During the housing bubble in CA, they had 150,000 as agents and
needed only 105,000. LA Times had an article in about 2000 that
most agents made no money. The top 10% made all the deals.
Speculators were making deals for no money down. Flipping properties
was a common practice. I gather that does not happen in SWNM.
When people study ART HISTORY & CULTURE, they cannot make a living.
SCIENCE - TECHNOLOGY - ENGINEERING - MATHAMETICS are needed, not
SOCIAL STUDIES, etc.
Saw recently that a course offered by MIT was Social Studies. What?
BTW: there are free courses available at MIT, over the internet that are
FREE and no credit given & no tests given. Have been available since the
year 2000. Grant was made either by Hewlett or Packard foundation for $10
There are courses available through a company based in VA, that offers
DVD and or CD 30 minute lectures at reduced prices. These are from highly
rated professors throughout the country. One listed is from NMSU about CHINA.
Check it out, you may find something of interest and value.
YES I AM OFF TOPIC but some good ideas to check out.
But times do change. Make a change in your life.
You will not have to show proof of residence or ID to get these courses.
You can watch or listen to DVD/CD for 24-36 lectures. Beats watching the
crime ridden TV series or STUPID reality shows.
Times are achanging and you'd better be prepared, w/o your guns.
