Thank goodness - he should have done this the very first day. Strange that per the paper who listed
a police document that he self admitted - however now he claims "not guilty"?

Another top notch LCPD professional at work. On the up side at least no one was shot this time.

The LCPD doing what they do best. Harrassment and ticket giving. Las cruces, the home of the criminals who go untouched by the pd.

question why he was even allowed to do a ride-along with an under aged girl.
the police officer confesses to what happened on that ride -- and a lot of it is difficult to hear. 4 on your side investigative reporter chris ramirez uncovered audio recordings that reveal that cop's confessions. here's chris.
when she was just 13 years-old -- the teen knew she wanted to be a police officer when she grew up-- so she started volunteering at a police department in new mexico. but one night with detective michael garcia changed it all for her. detective michael garcia worked for the las cruces police department for 15 years---, he was a veteran detective. he investigated crimes against children and sexual assault cases. throughout his career.he interviewed hundreds of victims of sexual abuse but turns out---detective garcia had some secrets of his own
Detective Rosa: She came forth and stated that she went out on a ride-along with you and there was an incident that happened inside the car between you and her.
THESE ARE NEVER before heard audio recordings ...of detective michael garcia confessing to committing the kind of crime she was so used to investigating garcia's victim--- the high school intern volunteering at the las cruces police department. a girl who aspired to be a detective herself---until one evening in may 2011. one ride-along with detective garcia caused her to lose all respect for the badge.

Garcia: I know I f up putting myself in that position; flirtatious. I know she was sixteen, seventeen. I don't know how old she was.
garcia was on a homicide call and the 17 year old intern had ridden along in his patrol car. but when the call ended, court documents state, garcia took the intern to this residential area
Garcia: I said "it should have never happened. " And I just you know, and it it granted I know it was f wrong, f me.
garcia is insistent at this point, it was only a kiss. Granted I'm an adult violating a child.
GARCIA'S SUPERVISORS allowed him to be alone with the teenage girl.a decision that may cost the police department. you see, a few years prior.records show that detective garcia had been reprimanded for having sex inside his patrol car while on duty. a used condom found inside the vehicle, confirmed his supervisors suspicions.
this is shannon kennedy, an attorney representing the intern. they fell far below the duty of care of having teenage students working within the department unsupervised with someone who they knew previously had sex in his patrol unit, while drinking a bottle of wine, with another officer's girlfriend.
Rosa: She's showing all the classic signs of a victim. The same way we look at the victims.school going down the tubes her personal life going down the tubes, attempted code 30, attempted suicide everything. That doesn't happen from a kiss, Mike. It doesn't. You know that.
Garcia: II know that, man.
DETECTIVE ROSA EXPLAINS that the department has documents to support the intern's story.the ride-along, her leaving the police department shortly after, a change in her demeanor
Rosa: Tell me what happened, Mike. Garcia: She had her pants unbuttoned.
Garcia: I did not f, I don't rememberand yeah you already caught me in a lie. You guys f know. She did touch me. She did touch me.
Rosa: Okay. Garcia: I f did touch her. I did not f insert her because I.she was sitting in the damn seat. So I couldn't you know what I mean, I couldn't.
Rosa: Okay. Garcia: It was impossible for me to go inside of her. Um, it started off as a I'd say a chicken game. And my career is over, so f it. Um, playing chicken or are you scared, I don't what the hell it was. Uh, and we went to the area of McClure. Um, pulled over. She unbuttoned her pants. I did not force her. It was congranted it was wrong. It was a consensual act.
Garcia: Position of authority and I f up.

IN LATER COURT documents garcia admits it was "he" who unzipped her pants and his. and it was also revealed, garcia is Hiv positive. he's not remorseful or empathetic. He claims to understand that he's done something wrong, he's still incredibly narcissistic. It's all about him, him, him.
Garcia: The badge gets you the psy and the psy gets your badge., you know and uh, that's essentially it. Umm, and to be honest with you, I don't think we even really kissed. I mean it was straight touching, touching, It was like f three minutes. Three minutes for the rest of my life. I'm gonna f go away.
michael garcia pleaded guilty to kidnapping and sexually assaulting the intern in federal court. he's awaiting sentencing, but the plea agreement calls for nine years in prison. he's also facing a civil suit by the alleged victim.
chris....as we've seen in many cases, once one victim comes forward, others often do too. and that's what happened here. after the intern told police what happened, something unbelievable happened. one of garcia's relatives came forward stating he had been raping her too. that case is going through the state court system. thank you

All of this came to light because another detective later saw the girl working at a place she while was picking up some food. Asking why she dropped the program. Being trusted with details of the incident. Telling fellow officers what had occurred. The officers working together out of concern to get a confession. There are some good people looking out for our citizens.

Few former lcpd that still live in cruces but commute to other towns to work for otger police departments seem to be what garcia says the badge gets psy. Several married ones screwing around in town they work in keeping the wife in cruces out of loop.
