What were they thinking, both of them. You go walking around on the street with a rifle that looks like an ak47 and someone might think it is an ak47. How is anyone to know you are not some young gang kid.

If you pull up behind someone who is walking, open your door, say something you should expect that person to turn around, I don't care what you say, hey you, drop it, does not matter if you say something to someone walking they are going to turn toward you and you should expect that. So don't put yourself in that position.

There is just too much untold to say here. I don't know but I imagine in California you can't put yourself in jeopardy then say you had to shoot them.

People where I live carry guns, real guns so if you see them it is just normal and you don't have to slam on your breaks and challenge them.

Was he rehearsing for a school shooting perhaps?

HURRAH for the police !!!!!

would your FBI have gotten involved if the kid was White?

Since he was a Mexican, and probably illegal, the FBI got involved because they want to blame the local police for shooting someone who supports Obama.

Looks like the victim takes the blame again in a cop-military mentality gun happy culture that shoots before it thinks. God forbid somebody does the same thing to the cop's kid! Why do they sell such look alike weapons? Of course any kid would be enthralled by such a look alike toy weapon. Manufactures should have to do things to identify it as a toy other then just some colored muzzle head.

You mean the orange muzzle head the kids always take off to make their toy look exactly like a real assault rifle, and that is so small you can't see it when it's pointed at you? Yes, the manufacturer should be paying millions for this one. Most of it should go to the poor cop who was forced into this tragic situation.

Toys are sold in the toy department, these are sold in sporting goods dept. And you have to be 18yr or older to purchase one. But idiots like keep saying it's a toy.

I believe that Cop was trigger happy!. He should have known between a toy gun and the real thing beeing Him a gun expert. He should have judged that a real gun was a lot heavier then a real gun, beeing Him an expert, he could have realized this!. In aney event, police officers are fully trained individuals. They shouldn't make mistakes like that!. Especially the Cop that shot and killed that boy, now he is a expert in firearms and had 24 years experience in law I forcemeat and should have known better!. If I were that stupid Cop I'd resign!!!. He should at least feel remorse for His deed and have the common certesy to resign!. A policeman that makes a mistake should resign or be fired, they're a danger to our safety and are incompetent.

Can you get any more stupid than good old Dean? Yeah, right, the cop should have walked up to some stupid kid carrying what looks like an assault rifle to weigh it. Sounds like the cop did the correct thing by ordering the kid to drop the gun. While it is tragic that the kid was shot and killed, the cops have every right to respond with lethal force whenever you point a firearm at them. Learn the law numb nuts. It's also called common sense. Sounds like you don't like cops because you were stupid enough to get arrested sometime during your ignorant life.

Cops are nervous as hell due to a lot of bad kid gun juju all over the USA.

Walking around with a wannabe AR is tanatmount to suicide.

Wannabe gangsta attire not a plus.
