Scott, four or five days ago the Sentinel ran an article on how sales of Hummers are back---back!---because gas prices are so low. Try and find a radio station in this area that isn't spilling right wing Republican propaganda 24/7. Last year Marco Rubio's solution to Florida's dwindling tax revenues was that stuuuuupid 'flat tax' fantasy. We have been one-partied to the brink of disaster and we have no one to blame but ourselves for not marching on Tallahassee and dragging those pompous braggarts out on the lawn and teaching them the only sort of lesson they can understand. Now that we're headed for an economic cycle that rivals the Great Depression, maybe we---including me---will get off our collective duffs and take back our government.

Another partisan hack job. Your own paper rated Dorworth as doing a good job in office.

The Republican Party is footing the bill? I know that the Hill is dominated by Republicans, but that's a little too partisan for my tastes. I agree with Maxwell. The lawmakers should stay in Tallahassee where the business can continue to be done In the Sunshine AND more cost sensitively.

Remember this the next time you think about donating money to the GOP. Their party is in disarray but they spend your money yucking it up at luxury resorts.
At least Crist actually gets things done. I see a bright future for him in this state.

Dorworth can't get his own financial house in order.

In the past six years he's had:
1. Lien filed by HOA for failure to pay his $100 quarterly HOA dues. And he didn't pay the $100 until FOUR months after the lien was filed.
http://officialrecords.seminoleclerk.org/NV_R...

2. Lis Pendens, the first step in foreclosure proceedings, filed against his current home for failure to pay against his $1.5M mortgage. No release has been filed by the mortgage holder.
http://officialrecords.seminoleclerk.org/NV_R...

3. Had a property co-owned with his business partner Jim Stelling (the Chairman of the Seminole County Republican Executive Party) foreclosed upon for failure to pay the mortgage.

4. The above property was originally purchased from a group including Lew Oliver, the Chairman of the Orange County Republican Executive Committee. The purchase price was $8M and a mortgage was obtained from the sellers for $6.5M. Metro Orlando Development Group, a Florida LLC, of which Dorworth and Stelling are the only two managing members, failed to pay the mortgage and the property was foreclosed upon this year. A judgement was entered in the amount of $8,160,252.28. The judgement has not been satisfied.
http://officialrecords.seminoleclerk.org/NV_R...

5. Of the four Florida Limited Liability Companies Dorworth is a member of, two were dissolved by the state this year for failure to pay the annual report fee and for failing to file the annual report. His other two companies failed to file the annual reports on time. In order to avoid the state action of dissolution, the LLC's (Stelling is a partner in one and his wife Elizabeth is a partner in the other) paid two $538 fines and filed the annual reports almost three months late.

Dorworth can't keep his either his personal nor professional financial house in order and he thinks he's capable of being Speaker? He has repeatedly proven he is incapable of handling financial responsibility.

These are not minor things. How ignorant do you have to be to buy a agriculturally zoned property and not know to have the soil tested for pesticides and other harmful chemicals and have those results be contingent on the sale?

Responsible homeowners don't just ignore their homeowner association dues. If you can't pay, then you work out a payment arrangement. HOA don't just file liens arbitrarily without numerous attempts to contact the homeowner.

And his $1.5M mortgage...Dorworth said when his mortgage holder started foreclosure proceedings against him earlier this year that it was because he had withheld the windstorm payments. Again, Dorworth just doing things with no forethought. If you disagree with the mortgage holder, you negotiate, you put the money in escrow, you fight it legally, but just arbitrarily withholding money from your mortgage payment is not the way it's done. And if the problem was so minor as what Dorworth claimed, and the account in now current, why hasn't he insisted the mortgage holder file a release of lis pendens?

There are plenty of adults in the Florida House. Dorworth isn't one of them. Pay attention people. Not only shouldn't Dorworth be Speaker, he shouldn't be a member of the Florida house.

Scott Maxwell says it right.
I'm copying my response to "Churches work together as allies in activism"
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/ora...
You ever notice that religious groups sometimes force people to pray and/or go to church before they will help them? I understand that's what happens with the Salvation Army and their shelters.
The more presence religious types make, the less I like them. I like them very, very little these days.
Seems to me that the government shirks it's responsibilities and passes the buck to religious groups. Their hidden agenda, besides being selfish shirkers, is to help the brainwashing of people into religion. The religious groups are happy to beat their chests and say look at us.
Make government responsible. Stop turning America into a charity case.

I totally agree.
Note too that, where the Sentinel came down when a Congressional House candidate (Grayson) came along who, at a minimum talks a good game -- this 'team of rivals' bipartisanship is fine, but making anything significant happen will, let's face it, take people who don't shy away from a fight.

They endorsed Keller. The 'Hummer' of corporate politicking.

The other thing is that we need to rememeber that having a D next to the name won't mean catastrophic conservatism isn't still in the driver's seat.

Scotty:

You are in rare form today, twisting everything against Republicans. I guess Obama has you juiced up!

Are you going to write a story about the trips Democrats take? You know they do exactly the same thing.
