My son was on Santa Rosa Beach 2 days prior to his 21st birthday when his mother allowed him to have a beer on the beach.

The sheriff's driving along the beach saw him and gave him a ticket with a $250 dollar fine attached to it for drinking underage.

Then they wonder why young people have almost zero respect for law enforcement.

These 2 cops would last about an hour in a ""real"" city with ""real crime"".

Good job guys you have alienated another younger person. If you are in trouble sometime and people just keep driving by rather than stop to help you remember these incidents when you could have made friends and chose to assert yourselves as some sort of Supreme Beings.

Boo-fringin'-Hoo. Underage MEANS Underage! With the tax cuts coming to Florida, we need all the revenue we can get.

Happy Birthday Junior....now fork over the $250.

Good god. If he killed someone would you be making an excuse for that illegal behaviour also? Poor kid is probably going to end up in a crack house on welfare with parents like you. You should be teaching the kid personal responsibility. The kid should have told the cops your wife gave him the beer and they should have hauled her butt to jail. If the kid is almost 21 and can not get away with hiding a beer, he is in pretty sad shape. Make that payment with certified funds please.

Hey Pin Head - your wife should have gotten a $250.00 ticket for giving him the beer. The way I see it, you got off cheap.

Has anyone ever had an emergency were you were traveling down the highway exceeding the speed limit to a hospital? Did you get stopped by a law enforcement officer and get ticketed or were you able to proceed. You are wrong for speeding regardless. COULD YOU OVERLOOK IT? My view is everyone can receive a break. Two days? I'm sure none of the spout offs have done anything wrong in their lifetime. Please start setting your emergency brake in your vehicle prior to exiting. It's the law. You might receive a citation.

I drove my mother to the hospital years ago speeding, and a cop stopped us and gave us an escort to the hospital. I got stopped in Gulf Breese hurrying to a funeral in Pensacola, and he didn't ticket us, he gave us an escort to the service. However, 21 is the legal drinking age, and that should be enforced. I don't drink, and I certainly don't give it to my kids! I'm sure MADD would have something to say about it!

Tourest take note Understand the job of law enforcement. It is to enforce the laws. Not to decide on a judgement. That is for the D.A. and the court system. The officer dosen't care as long as it is a clean arreast. One can all ways challange the ticket in court then one can pay court cost, and the ticket. We have seen evey year unlimited acts of stupidity preformed by under age drinking spring brakers. Such as falling off the suide of buildings trying to climb up to the room above their rooms. Urinatying in public places, fighiting, destroying property both public and privite.Hit and run and upchuking all over the police car on their way while wareing the nice silver cuffs in the police driven limo to a cell provided for their protection from them selves There for the officers were looking out for the welfair of this young man. Get a grip POP.It's the real world not Disney Land here in Santa Rosa.

Under stand the job of Law enforcement it is to enfoce the law. Judgement is for the cour and the D.A.Yes we have real crimes here too all is not Disney Land even if we give our tourest that impresion.Evey year we have under age drinkers endangering them selves climbing up th side of buildings. Passing out near the low tide level on the beach. These officers were looking out for this young man be happy the ticket is all he got and we did not have to give you that call informing you of some dumb act by an under age drinker..

Hey How about Discretion on the parents part and the police.
They can die for our country and have as of late, but God don't let them drink as beer.
Folks common sense has left the building and all you folks saying illegal is illegal,we have been overcome by laws to make us all criminals. Its easier to rule criminals then innocents.
Officer tight butt should have showed some discretion and had him pour it out and left it at that..
As far as the parent hey try to be discrete and set an example don't throw it in the cops faces..
