just back

College Station, TX

Just got back last night from Santa Rosa Beach/Destin area. Visited 3 beaches last week, here's the breakdown:
(1) Santa Rosa Beach- lots and lots of tar balls, could not recommend going there.
(2) Grayton Beach- looked great, but later noticed very small tar balls that had washed up on the beach. They were putting up orange flags on the beach where there were visible tar balls.
(3) Destin-(sepcifically, Crystal Beach)- we were there on Tuesday, and the water/beach was gorgeous. No signs of any tar balls whatsoever.
We stayed in Santa Rosa Beach, and when I checked into our house, I asked Dune Allen Realty people about the beach and any oil, and they said "everything was great, no sign of anything"...1 hour later I went to the beach and that was NOT the case. I don't appreciate them lying to me. So..you simply can not trust a real estate booking agency to tell you the truth re: condition of the beaches.
Very sad, very sad...we love the Florida Panhandle.
