It was very nice of y'all to tell us who the real Desi is. It's disgusting to be mean to people posting/looking for help to this insane law. His lack of empathy and intelligence clearly demonstrates the kind of person he is.

But again, September 1 st and the law will be repealed. HB 104. I'll have a posting up next week on Youtube regarding repeal details.

Congratulations again! We beat the shit outta this law like Desi beat his wife and kids.

Wrong Guys ! It takes some poor white trash to drive drunk then blame it on someone else. Everyone is required to have insurance. Simple, unless your a moron.

You'll never see this law change in your lifetime.

Just pay your fines and surcharges and everyone will be happy. If you don't you'll be going back to jail.

Lol Eric. Just viewed your mugshot. Looks like you patrol Topix a lot because people have tons of posts about you and how you beat your family.

Wow!

Looks like a lot of people are mad at you. Did you pay your fine when you went to jail? Looks like you should stop beating your family and being a dick hole. Only pussies do that.

I think you need to get off Topix and go see someone about this anger management you have. Your posts are so obvious about your psychological problems. And go on ahead and tell me to pay up, Just keep proving to us how mentally dysfunctional you are.

I guess if one continues to drive drunk and without insurance they would want to change the laws too.

Pay Up Boy.

I've been given several metals for valor. I've also been selected as police officer of the month. All awards I'm proud of.

Now go pay your fines and surcharges. LOL

First of all, let me say that I don't have any surcharge fees to pay. I have a pretty decent driving record. But I feel these surcharges are unconstitutional and are crippling to Texans. I agree that most people driving without insurance do so because they cannot afford it. Insurance is an institution corrupt and has long been needing reform. You pay and pay and then when you use it, you are penalized and sometimes dropped. I never use my insurance, yet I have to pay, and for what? If you don't have insurance because you can't afford it, its very difficult to pay the large fines. You certainly cant afford to pay more money for surcharges. If your license is suspended, guess what? You still have to go to work. You still have to support yourself and your family and pay your fines. So you drive with no license, and no insurance. Surcharges only serve to compound the problem. It cripples people already at poverty level. It ties their hands and it takes very little time before the problem becomes overwhelming and unmanageable. The costs of traffic violations are outrageous. So many Texans struggle to make ends meet. Texas is a large state, we have to drive. Our survival and livelihood depends on it. As far as driving being a privilege, I am a native born Texan. I don't need the government to give me privileges. It is a privilege for them to be in government. They don't own this state. They only preside over it, by our choice. They overstep their bounds by placing so too restrictions against our freedom. We need to minimize the power they have over us. Its corrupt and needs reform desperately.

After reading the Texas Driver Responsibility Law, I don't think I have any problem with it. Then again, I don't drive without insurance, my child rides in a proper child restraint device, I never drink and drive, and I don't normally speed (because my husband swears driving slower saves gas).
From what I read, points are applied to a driver's license for class c misdemeanor moving violations, and remain for three years. If a driver accumulates six points in a three year period, then DPS collects a surcharge from the driver.
Violations like driving without insurance are not subject to points, but rather require an annual surcharge. The surcharge varies by crime, but driving without insurance is $250 per year for three years.
Sorry, I wanted to be sympathetic, but the law doesn't seem unreasonable. Consider not breaking the law in the future.
Never say never if you forget to put your new insurance card in your car and get pulled over get a ticket for no insurance you go to court and get it dropped put you still have to pay the surcharges 250 a year for 3 years =$750 the law was made to raise money not for safety reasons. A tax on the working class.
